Robby Echo: Embracing Spirituality and Artistry in the Adult Industry

In my recent Fleshbot Exclusive Interview with Robby Echo, the accomplished adult actor shared his journey, passions, and perspectives on the industry. Born in Seattle, Robby has called Los Angeles home for the past nine years. With a candid and open demeanor, Robby spoke about his experiences, spirituality, and artistic pursuits outside the adult world.

When asked about his experience in LA, Robby admitted that it took him quite some time to truly feel like a local. He described the city as a unique beast that often perpetuates disconnection among individuals. However, with a solid spiritual foundation, Robby found the tools to ground himself and connect to the larger picture, allowing him to navigate the industry's challenges.

Robby emphasized the importance of mental health and clarity, which have been his top priorities ever since he overcame depression 16 years ago through alternative means. He firmly believes that investing in personal growth and well-being equips individuals with the ability to handle any situation with grace and resilience.

Despite the adult industry's misconceptions, Robby reflected on the aspects he loves most about being an adult actor. He cherishes the flexibility it offers, the opportunity to travel, and the deep connections he gets to make with different people within the industry. However, he also acknowledged that there are aspects he doesn't enjoy, such as the car-centric infrastructure of Los Angeles, which he believes isolates people and hinders the growth of subcultures. He also mentioned that working with individuals in the industry who don't genuinely enjoy sex can make the job more difficult.

Beyond his work in adult films, Robby is a multi-talented artist. He passionately creates oil paintings and Linocut prints and has recently returned to photography. He has already directed a comedy short, a music video, and two short films showcasing his diverse creative abilities. In the next five years, Robby envisions himself shooting more movies and starting a family with his wife.

When asked about changes he would make to the adult industry, Robby expressed the desire for a comprehensive information sheet that details what to do and what to avoid in the industry, ensuring newcomers are well-informed and prepared. Additionally, he mentioned that royalties for adult actors would be a welcome change.

Robby's advice to fans who want to enhance their sexual experiences was simple yet powerful. He emphasized the importance of self-care, including maintaining a healthy lifestyle, exercising, and practicing self-love unconditionally. He also suggested kegel exercises, taking libido supplements, and practicing orgasm control to prolong pleasure. Robby believes that cultivating self-love is the foundation for all forms of love and intimacy.

Regarding his current projects, Robby shared his excitement about the Goofy Glamour Boy series featuring Nathan Bronson and Shawn Alff. AL: Hi Robby! I’ve been looking forward to this interview. Please tell us a bit about yourself. When is your birthday, and where were you born?

RE: Awesome. I’m from Seattle. I was born in June. I’ve been in LA for the past 9 years.

AL: Do you feel like a local after living there for 9 years? Did you move to LA to become an adult actor?

RE: Yeah I finally feel like a local after this past year. LA is a weird beast that perpetuates disconnection.  It took me a long time to figure out what was going on. If I didn’t have my spiritual foundation it would have chewed me up and spit me out. I moved here with an ex who was in the biz. I was working art department on some mainstream shows until her agent gave me the in.

AL: I appreciate you being open and honest about your struggle. In your opinion, how can spirituality help someone make it in the industry without getting “chewed up and spit out”?

RE: It gives you tools to ground yourself and connect to the larger picture. My mental health and clarity have been my number one priority since I cured my depression 16 years ago with psilocybin mushrooms. Since then I have grabbed a hold of any tools that better my overall being. There’s no greater investment. A better me means a better experience in any situation.

AL: Definitely! That’s a powerful and inspiring mindset. What are your favorite and least favorite things about being an adult actor?

RE: I love the flexible schedule, getting to travel and connecting with so many different people.  I love the deep, transcendent passion I get to experience with some people in the industry.  I don’t like the car-centric infrastructure of Los Angeles. I think it isolates people and prevents subcultures from growing. I don’t like working with the occasional person who’s in the industry but doesn’t like sex.

AL: I can see how that would make your job more difficult. What do you do for fun when you’re not shooting porn?

RE: I make oil paintings, Linocut prints, and I started shooting camera again this year. So far, I’ve shot a comedy short, a music video, and two short films. I also love yoga, breathwork, and nature.

AL: You’re an artist! That’s very cool. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

RE: In five years, I see myself shooting camera for more films and working on a baby with my wife.

AL: Aw! I wish you all the best and a healthy baby! If you could, what would you change about the adult industry?

RE: I would have an info sheet detailing all the what to do and what to avoid in the industry that would get sent when a new person gets tested in the industry. Royalties would be nice!

AL: What would you tell a fan that asks, “Robby, how can I fuck like a pornstar”?

RE: I would say eat healthy, exercise, do kegals, take libido supplements, practice orgasm control to last longer, and love yourself unconditionally.
