I do not think that says that we live in the Stone Age in our branch of entertainment known as erotic film. No, quite the contrary. I think it demonstrates in many ways that we are heading into the future. That we are growing into a more advanced business that features such powerful, provocative talent, that we are looking to earn a successful living in any way that we can, in the most efficient and practical way possible. The modern porn star, she is the most keen businesswoman that the industry has ever known. These two bullet points bring us to our subject Sophia Locke, and, a Beyond The X spotlight that speaks of where XXX is going.

Sophia Locke, she may be the busiest woman in porn. To get an interview with her, you must develop patience. It takes time for this starlet to have a free second for an interview, let alone have a personal day to conduct public relations for her brand. When I caught up with her, she was roaring down the interstate, heading from one shoot to another. Saving money by not buying a plane ticket, or overpriced lodging after shooting five scenes in six days.

She is known for making directors fans again. That is what one grizzled man behind the camera told me when I first inquired about this performer’s demeanor on set. Many have called her the future of XXX, and I am one of those people. Join us as we sit down and discuss the future of this industry with one of the performers who is bringing something new to the XXX table. Right in time for Christmas dinner. Don Juan DeMarko: Sophia, thank you for joining us for this Fleshbot interview. How can I thank the performer who is so busy, she seems to have a scene that comes out every day. 

Sophia Locke: Well, first off, two things I have to say. Thank you for having me, but most importantly, I want to thank all those people who want to watch me. You have no idea what it means to me that people want to watch me have sex. It is a very surreal feeling. It is just fucking amazing!

DJD: Well, what I think makes you that draw, especially in the realm of Girl/Girl. You make the stiffest co-star look like they are a seasoned veteran. That is not easy.

SL: I appreciate you saying that. Especially when it comes to Girl/Girl. I love women. I enjoy them to the fullest extent that I think that another woman can. Every so often, you will be paired with another woman who is not that into women. Or, are uncomfortable because they have never been with a woman before. I get to be their “first.” I know that is a lot of pressure. Especially when they do not feel secure. Or, it is because they do not have sex with women. I can recall this one situation. The girl was either inexperienced or not that into it. I tried to build as much rapport as I could so that she could feel comfortable. Especially because I was in a role where I had to be kind of creepy. I had to seduce her, and then push her into something. I don’t think she was so comfortable in that role. So, in between takes, I took her aside and said, “Hey, this is not the normal action I would use in real life.” I was trying to put her at ease.

DJD: So, did it work? Oh, my God, I am dying to know.

SL: Well, in the scene. I helped guide her to help me orgasm. I watched it on her face when she did it. I could see that she was proud of herself. That got her revved up. SL: Well, as a performer, you can feel so vulnerable on set for the first time. I understand that. I am an older woman in this business, I have done it all. So, for me, none of it makes me nervous anymore, but, I understand where people are coming from and it is not a completely comfortable thing.

DJD: Oh, I know. I tell all my porn sisters this, I would consider myself a woman in a man’s body. I have seen, known, and understood most facets of sexuality. The one thing I have come to understand, it is very intimidating when it comes to intimacy and discovering a love for women. 

SL: Yes, all of it really is. It is funny you should say that you are a woman in a man’s body. Because I say this often, I feel like a horny, adolescent young man, in a thirty-eight-year-old woman’s body. I think that I have high testosterone, I generally do. Because I feel like at times, that the only way that I get away with being as creepy as I am on camera, is because I am a woman. (We share a massive laugh.) I think that I am only allowed to say that I love sex so much is because I have big boobs. You know what I mean? If I were a man, I do not think I would get away with even half of it. But, I have a really good time, so!....

Oh, there is more to Sophia Locke’s acceptance within the porn community than her big boobs and her feverish sex drive. DJD: That is some cool shizzle woman. I dig it! 

SL: I lucked out with my high sex drive. I am also a woman who stays in the gym all the time. I try to do all the things that I need to so that I feel good about myself on screen. That way I am not thinking about that all the time when I am performing. Because that is what makes my performances authentic and so connected.

DJD: I have been recording our conversation, and, I love getting to start out my spotlight pieces by showing who the performers are in this industry. I do not think you guys get that as much as the previous generations of porn stars used to. 

SL: I prefer those interviews that allow me to be as authentic as possible. Because that has always been my brand. Even when I did camming for seven years. This was way back in 2010, and, I had barely begun to do studio work way back then maybe the last half of that year. I am not a good liar. I do not do a good job of selling fantasy. Here is the deal, this is what I like to tell the general public when it comes to my work. I am really slutty, you can pay to watch it, I do not offer any in-person services, but, if you like to see me. You enjoy my slutty lifestyle, this is the boundary that I have. But all you see, it is generally me.

I know that there are girls who hire people to talk for them on OnlyFans. Other gals are selling themselves as this sex object without being their actual selves. Which is fine, and, that is cool if that’s your brand. But it’s not mine. I have strict boundaries about what I will and won’t do. I don’t offer customs or sexting. I do not spend a lot of time in my “DMs.” So, I do not have to spend all day, talking to people for free. So, some people do not get what they want out of me. That is disappointing to fans, of course. The trade-off is that they get to see my genuinely authentic excitement in the films and scenes that I make.

DJD: Let’s talk about your work, shall we? Tell me about being a modern performer.

SL: I am honored by your comparisons in your reviews. When you are your own brand. It means something to know that what you are noticed on such a level. It is an honor. Sometimes it does feel silly because I am not trying to do anything. I am just being myself. I can not believe that this is my life, and I get to have sex with these amazing people, and, I get to know them on another level. You get to meet these amazing performers and these amazing directors. You become a family. You get to be friends and everyone just looks out for each other. Because there is no one else outside of our industry looking out for us. This feels purposeful. That this is what I am meant to do. I left to do real estate in Seattle for five years, and I just felt like I could not be myself. I met a lot of nice people. I was very successful, yes, but when it comes to my work in the adult industry, I can be completely myself.

DJD: What I appreciate about the women in this industry. You are all some of the most authentic human beings on planet Earth. You are lovers, yes. Some of the most loving human beings on the planet. But you are all so much more. The things that would shock most fans and critics outside the industry, are that you all are survivors and critical thinkers. You are independent women who do not let any barrier hold you down. That is a sophistication that I hope in this digital age we get to hear more of. What better person than you to usher us into that future?

SL: It is social media and people like you who write about us that make us so that we are humanized in the public’s eye as well. Because when porn stars were these “untouchable” personas and people, all that you saw was on screen. Which was very sexual, and very empowering to me, but you could not see the nuance of performers. It is people like you, and this publication that shows that we are not just sexual objects or sexual beings. Yes, we are that, but, we are all these other things.

So, what is it that we have learned from the return of this phenomenal performer? What is the future of XXX? What is it that is going to be the calling card of the future performers of this industry? I do not think that you need to look further than with Sophia Locke. A woman who my good buddy Blake Blossom said is as authentic and captivating as she says she is. Porn starlets whose sex drives make them a very successful living. Could it be that women like Sophia Locke are going to be the women who finally grant this industry, and its personnel the benefit of the doubt within other realms of society that I think businesses take for granted? Could it be that women like Sophia Locke will usher in an era where porn performers actually can have a bank account from Wells Fargo, and never have to resort to a world of “privates?” Well, these could be discussed for another day, but, I do believe that a woman like Sophia Locke could bring an understanding to the wonder and acceptance of female sexuality.
