Walking Through The Doors of Historic Hollywood to Celebrate XXX

There is something truly special about having veteran adult film performers that have decades under their belt combined with fresh young faces that still have that new car smell on them under one historic roof. The location for the 39th annual XRCO Awards was held at Boardner’s by La Belle just like it has been for the past few years. The host club has been in business since 1942 ushered in by old Hollywood throughout the years of its existence. On May 11th, 2023 the hallowed establishment hosted adult film luminaries of all sorts in Los Angeles, California. La-La-land is also the habitat of the XXX film industry aside from Hollywood marking its territory in that part of the country. It’s only fitting that porno history was to be made that night. The special event doubled as an award show and industry-only gathering in the cozy club. Critics and performers alike mingled as the industry is celebrated by recognizing some of the hard work these adult performers and film crews are capable of whether they earn a trophy or not.

The party vibe is welcoming to those that just want to meet and talk aside from the awards being handed out. The XRCO awards are known to be more relaxed unlike the hustle and bustle of other awards shows with the larger scale conventions that often times span a few days. By comparison to other adult events, the XRCO Awards is a much smaller gathering.

Recapping Familiar Faces and Bodies of Work

One of my favorite things about these events is seeing some of the performers I write about in person. Whether we formally meet or not I love running into the very people that give purpose to my words, it is always exciting to see adult film stars in the wild. Some memorable sightings include Spiegler and his gang of talent. Nicole Doshi shone through on the red carpet and she took the New Starlet trophy later that night. Ana Foxxx lights up any room she walks into and her glow was blindingly apparent on the red carpet. Ana also went on stage as a presenter and continued to gleam when handling the microphone as a presenter. AVN’s Female Performer of the Year, Kira Noir made an appearance on the red carpet to add further excitement. Blake Blossom, who also happens to be on her own path to XXX greatness was beaming with beauty on the walkway in front of all the flashing cameras. Blake took two trophies home for XRCO’s Personal Favorite and the Vicki Chase’s Orgasmic Oralist Award. Yes, you read that right, Vicki Chase has an award named after her in honor of her otherworldly oral sex skills. Blake Blossom also pulled double duty that night as she was on stage as a presenter on top of being a winner.

Codey Steele walked up on stage to receive his Unsung Swordsman trophy recognizing the fact that we need more male talent like him in the industry. Spencer Bradley accepted the Unsung Siren nod and was all smiles as she walked up to receive it. Cutie pie Coco Lovecock was there to grab her Teen Dream honor as she posed with her trophy for the cameras after walking off stage. Angela White swooped in from the heavens to nab her much-deserved Awesome Analist award which was a tie with Vicki Chase, both appropriately achieving the win. Vicki was not there to get a trophy because she was overseas that night but she was there in spirit and with an entire oral category named after her as evidence of that. The jovial Charlotte Stokely was present in a bedazzling red dress while also having a trophy named after her a la Vicki Chase. Aidra Fox won the girl-girl award aptly named the Charlotte Stokely Girl/Girl Performer of the Year award. The crowd went wild for that one!

As far as the Female Performer of the Year and Male Performer of the Year winners go, you can see that hard work is rewarded by the X-Rated Critics Organization. Jane Wilde released the ultra-intimate STARS through Adult Time recently and Mick Blue is in a myriad of top-tier anal scenes while carrying his veteran status. Jane Wilde’s bravery in telling not only a personally inspired story in her feature showcase which she co-directed with Bree Mills, but also gave one of the most honest depictions of sex work in the modern age of adult entertainment, all in a well-produced Adult Time film. The body of work speaks for these trophy-earning-porno-titans. Speaking of titans the Hall of Fame was decked out with names that were destined to be etched in it. Chris Streams happily accepted his award and totally has a body of work to show for it.

Leaving LA Only To Return Another Day

My California trips tend to be industry-driven and short, as I’m there to cover events like the XRCO Awards but the off time I have is spent soaking in the humidity-free weather while I wander in Cali. It feels like I’m on another planet as someone that has grown up and still lives in the boggy humidity of storm-prone Florida. The fact that the porn industry is there as a whole makes those trips out west that much more appreciated. As usual, XXX is there for me whenever I need it and wherever I go. I can’t wait to go back out west and see everyone again!
