We Outside! New Music Treats For Summer!

Welcome back, folks! It's your favorite music-loving ENBY! Wooo weee! The sounds we were blessed with this week are giving healing! It's giving we starting to go outside (Monkeypox be damned! But get vaccinated seriously!); it's givin' Summer is right around the corner, and the girlies and gays are continuing to battle it out for song of the Summer! Kaytranada seriously got the ball rolling with his project, and Kylie Minogue has had the gays in a chokehold with her new drop! Let's get into it!

CLEAR 2: SOFT LIFE EP x Summer Walker

If there is one thing Summer will do, she will put a project together! Seamlessly! Her debut EP, Last Day of Summer, was a smash. Her debut album, Over It, is still in my friends' rotations. Still Over It is still in mine! All that to say, Summer does not miss! Now she is claiming leisure and ease in her life because she is too through with the bull$hit! See the track "Finding Peace," where she sings, "Losing people, finding peace." Period.

If you have followed her career and personal life, she doesn't have great luck with men… they are garbage. To her benefit, her pen is not. Summer is capable of taking tragedy and penning cutthroat tales of sorrow and healing at the same damn time. The girlies are sliding down the wall crying while shaking asses.

She teams up with J. Cole, who pops up every now and then to drop a hot verse to remind us, "I'm still here, just cookin' in silence;" he slyly raps about the album he is working on. On "New Type," Childish Gambino (I thought he was droppin' that moniker too) challenges Summer about being the new kind of man she wants!

The project's thesis is at the end when Summer relays to us what she learned from her spiritual guide. "Why would I think I am crumblin' people who were never strong in the first place!"

If you are made of steel, do not associate with people made of glass! They are not ready for growth.

Key Track: "Mind Yo Mouth", Summer sings about the eggshells we must walk around when dealing with fragile men. Gfoh with all that!

KAYTRAMINÉ X Kaytraminé (Kaytranada x Amine)

Listen, I don't play about my Haitian brother! 99% was my hook-up playlist for three years Bubba gets played continuously! The Intimidated EP was a Haitian dream. Now on this project, Kay is doing his big one. These beats, samples, and transitions are so fucking smooth.

He lays the phenomenal groundwork for Aminé to put forth some excellent wordplay. The magic these two created together is givin' me the heightened anticipation for Summer that I got from Calvin Harris' Funk Wav Bounce VOL 1. It just embodies the season so well. Like Kay said, Summer started when they dropped, and y'all better listen to him!

Key Track: "Sossaup", This trio! JeezSUS! I want to wine on someone while this plays loud! Mist spraying from overhead, the sun is beatin' down!

Svengali (Remixed) x Cakes Da Killa

Back with some of his favorite DJs, Cakes gives us fresh takes to pump in the club.

Key Track: "Ball and Chain (Inner City Remix)" was hard to choose because that "Sip of My Sip (Eli Escobar)" eats down, but my bias to B&C makes this hit different. My favorite section is the overlaying of "I'm just trying to find somebody ill that I can chill with, keep it one hundred, call me out on my bull$hit," waiting for the build-up!

Gag Order x Kesha

Gone are the radio-friendly tracks or the club pop bangers; "Peace & Quiet" might come close, but Kesha is here to be blunt, messy, and chaotic. She's tired of puttin' up a front of "it's all good." She just wants to be. On "Happy," she sings, "There are so many things I said that I wish I left unsaid. I gotta laugh so I don't cry."

Key Track: "Fine Line," She takes it to the chest and sums it all up! These lyrics are ON point. "Fine line between selling' out and being' bought" Sheesh!

Sobriety is hard. Posty is mourning that old life of his. $hit is real when that haze of inebriation is gone.

"End of Time" x Zara Larsson

Another dance floor track by the girlie! I wish the base hit harder during the chorus, but if you turn it all the way up, I can just see a club full of gays singing along loudly and off-key, but that's what we want!

"My Phone Can Die" x Rory, Ari Lennox, James Fauntleroy

The feeling you get when you are with that special someone, and you don't care what is going on in the outside world, is what this song feels like. Phones off, under covers, skin close, exploring each other. I just got chills.

"Where She Goes" x Bad Bunny

This offering is the latest in the Jersey club and drill trend. It makes me want to move, at least.

"Never Ending Song" x Conan Gray

It's just so fucking catchy. It's givin' "Love My Way" vibes by Psychedelic Furs. It makes you want to jump and dig your hips into the beat!

"Say Yes To Heaven" x Lana Del Rey

Co-written with Rick Nowels in 2012, the song has the cinematic drama of Ultraviolence, which means I have been playing it nonstop!

"The Journey" x H.E.R.

An uplifting ballad focused on appreciating what it takes to reach your goal. The chorus hits like "The Climb," so you have to belt it alongside H.E.R.

Continuing her drops and gearing up for her next album release, Kelly gives us a dance-ready track just in time for the Summer weather!

"Playing Outside Everyday" x VanVan, Mom, Dad

Listen! GET THAT BAG, VANVAN! The viral sensation has been taking over the timelines with her Tiktoks of her spittin' BARZ! VanVan's Playing Outside is the "We OUTSIDE" for the tweens and younger gang. She is gettin' the kiddies ACTIVATED! She's the Caresha of her generation. We skippin' naps and Actin' Bad!

"America Has A Problem" Remix x Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar

I love when Kenny and Bey get together, not that the song needed a remix. I love his verse, I just expected more from the remix queen! I'm spoiled, I guess! Still running it back though!
