Each month in 2023, Fleshbot will select and feature a Mr. Fleshbot and Mr. Fleshbot International that all of us should know more about. We will feature content creators and adult actors who go above and beyond their roles to make sure we take notice.
Brock Cooper is a great actor, adventurer, and knowledgeable businessman.
In this digital day and age, we have access to so much information about people that it's easy to feel like we understand who someone is and what is important to them. My experience with interviewing adult actors has led me to unequivocally conclude that "I only know that I don't know anything." Pornstars are actors, and it's their job to represent fantasies and play characters we're all familiar with like the dumb blonde, cute girl-next-door, pesky step-brother, or the lascivious delivery guy. It has been enlightening to learn so much about how people with different backgrounds, experiences, and goals navigate the adult industry and find a way to stand out.
Despite having read most, if not all, of the information available online about Mr. Fleshbot April, the truth is, I had no idea about his journey. I learned about how and why he got started in the industry, what motivates him, and what he wants to achieve. I hope you appreciate and support Brock Cooper, Mr. Fleshbot April, even more after you get to know him better.
Hi Brock! Thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions. How are you doing?
Hey, thanks for having me. I’m doin’ well!
Congratulations on being Mr. Fleshbot for April! How did you feel when you heard you had been nominated?
I was very flattered, of course! After all these years, it’s great to still be acknowledged and validated by reputable blogs and publications.
You've been active in the industry for over 10 years. Did you expect to have that longevity when you started?
No, not at all. In fact, I had no intention of turning what was just a little side gig at the time into the career it eventually became.
In the beginning, I was working a position in the fire service that I dedicated many years to land myself in while also picking up the occasional solo scene or photo shoot, etc in order to supplement my barely livable government wages. Eventually, I became sick of sacrificing so much of my health, energy, time, youth, and happiness for a job that barely paid the bills. I started looking for a new career path while using camming to help bridge the gap; lo and behold, I realized I may have accidentally found my new career in the process. At first, I kept telling myself “This is great now, but it’s just temporary. You can’t make a career out of this”. Fast forward 10 years to today; although I’ve diversified a bit, I’m still just getting started.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
Where do I even start? There are so many perks of this job, I can’t list them all. The main points that attracted me are the freedom, the potential income, opportunity for new experiences and connections, and having a career revolving around the most universally pursued goal: great sex.
Before the world was shut down and the option to do so was taken away from all of us, I traveled constantly. I believe the meaning of life is to live the most story worthy version, and camming/content creation allowed me to do just that. I was able to pack my camera and a laptop, hop on a plane, land just about anywhere in the world, then get right back to making a living without skipping a beat. No bills to worry about, no bosses to appease, no running out of sick leave or PTO, no begging co-workers to cover your shifts. Just living life. Even nowadays, with a much more hectic schedule and significantly more responsibilities, I am still 100% in control of my time. That is priceless to me, especially as my short term goals include taking advantage of that freedom and getting out to see the world again.
Although working for yourself and not having the security of a guaranteed paycheck can be stressful at times, it’s far preferable knowing that there are less limitations to what you can earn. However, I do believe with that kind freedom comes responsibility. You’ve got to have discipline and be willing to put in the work. Things don’t come as easily, but knowing there’s no cap to what you can achieve makes the downsides worth acknowledging and adapting.
And the obvious reason why most of us choose this career path; we’re sexual people! I don’t think I’d be nearly as motivated or work nearly as hard if I didn't love what I do. I constantly find myself in the middle of shooting a scene, thinking “I still can’t believe this is real. I’m at work right now. I’m so lucky”!
What is your least favorite?
This is where the pros and cons overlap. As much as I hate having to answer to a boss, it’s also very difficult not having any responsibilities to anyone but yourself. It’s almost too easy to be lazy. Sometimes you just don’t want to log on, shoot that content you promised, edit for hours or deal with the not so fun parts of the job that no one sees on the surface….but you have to because no one else is going to do it for you.
What is the most important lesson you've learned?
You get out of life what you put into it and you only get one, so go live it!
In your opinion, what are the pros and cons of camming and fan sites?
Simultaneously, I think the biggest pro AND con is access. It’s incredible that you can have direct access to your favorite performers like we never have been able to in the past while directly supporting and interacting with them and that the performer can get to know the people who put a roof over their head and keep them in business. The downside is that, very quickly, you can become TOO accessible. For me, privacy and solitude are essential to my happiness and keeping a positive state of mind. When you’re being spread so thin and pulled in a thousand different directions by a thousand different people for a thousand different reasons, it can get overwhelming. Finding that balance is absolutely essential.
How did the restrictions and isolation that resulted from COVID-19 influence your career path?
Well, they caused me to triple my hours on cam since I wasn't allowed by the powers that be to do the things that I previously enjoyed. Although they put a huge delay on launching my website and cut my bookings for other companies down to zero, it definitely confirmed my conviction to minimize the authority of external forces to dictate my personal life, freedoms, livelihood, etc by becoming my own employer.
What made you consider developing your own website?
In addition to the desire to not be reliant on anyone else for work, I’ve begun to develop little pet peeves while on set, shooting scenes on set for a multitude of different companies. I simply wanted to put myself in a position to do things the way I wanted, and in a way that I’m comfortable with. As a performer, you’re being paid to do a job so you don't have much say in the matter, you just put your head down and get the job done. To be clear, I am very grateful for every scene I get booked for and always have a blast on set and love my job and will not likely ever have a better one but that being said, I wanted to have a greater say in how my scenes are shot and the best way to do so was to create my own site. In most mainstream, higher budget scenes, the focus seems to be on putting on a good show for the camera (which is completely understandable) with actual enjoyment of the performers as an afterthought. I want to adjust those priorities a bit.
Did your experience in the industry and knowledge about creating traffic and fan engagement from camming and fan sites influence your decision?
Gathering experiences and learning how things are done simply from observing, taking part in the process as talent, and just asking questions along the way; all while building a network of knowledgeable friends is definitely what gave me the confidence to say “I can do this”. I still have a lot to learn, but I know, without a doubt, I wouldn't be as far along as I am currently without the knowledge and connections I acquired through camming and fan sites and on sets.
What has been the best part of this process for you?
No question about it, the best part is the people I’ve met and relationships I’ve built along the way. It’s been a wild ride and I hope it doesn't end any time soon!
Why is creating "good, unscripted, organic sex" scenes important to you?
Well, I got into this industry because I love sex. But very quickly, I realized that the scenes I was shooting were far removed from the great sex that I had had in my personal life. It just wasn't real. Even with the most award worthy, cinematically shot scenes, if the spark wasn’t there, the viewer can tell. It goes to show why amateur porn is such a popular category, its authenticity. Unfortunately there seems to be this inversely proportional relationship between scene quality and authenticity. The better the quality, the weaker the on-screen connection. It was important to me to capture that authenticity, that real connection between two people, while giving the customer a quality scene, hence the reason I shoot primarily in comfortable locations with talent I know that I pair well with and in as low stress of an environment as possible. When we get to the end of the scene and everyone has a smile on their face and comments how easy and light hearted and fun and quick the day was, I know I’ve achieved what I set out to do.
What would you like people to know about justgoodsex.com?
I think I’ve already summed up what the site is about and what I try to convey to the viewer on screen but I do want those that consider subscribing to know that I’m just some average Joe, going out and taking a risk and learning as I go, in pursuit of that American dream and appreciate each and every one of you that have, continue to, or will support me in the future. Just like any other industry, there's the big guys and the little guys and when you support myself or other creators like me, trying to make it on their own, it means the world. As the site continues to grow out of its infancy stage, I plan to reinvest back into it with the intention of providing a better and better experience for the viewer. I hope you all tag along for the adventure!
A lot of people learn about sex from porn. Do you think that showing people how "pornstars fuck off camera" can contribute to sexual education?
Oooph. Frankly, I don’t think learning about sex from porn is the ideal way to grasp a true idea of what sex is and can be. Although I do my best to capture an authentic experience on camera for the viewer, I think it should be viewed for entertainment more than for education. Although most of the basics are covered in your average porn scene, each experience is a personal one and expectations for your experience with someone shouldn't be set by watching porn. Keep in mind, they only show the good stuff and edit out all the bad. The best way, I’d say, is to just get in there and learn what you and your partner enjoy. Experiment, make mistakes, evolve, have fun, get embarrassed, laugh. It’s all part of the experience.
What are your goals for 2023?
As my site only launched a few months ago, my main goal for the year will be to grow the site and continue to grow my audience. Additionally, my next goal is to take my own advice and get back to living my life and seeing the world. I've got some big plans and need to start solidifying them.
Do you have a message for your fans?
To the fans I see almost every night on cam, you know how much I appreciate you and you know you’ll hear me say it a million more times. Love you guys and gals! To those who support me in other ways and don’t get to see me say it live, THANK YOU! Without a fanbase of people supporting, subscribing, liking, tipping, RT-ing, sharing, etc, us creators would be nowhere and without the resources we need to create. So, just know you are all appreciated and the support does not go unnoticed!
Make sure you’re following and supporting Brock; and remember to check back next week for more on Mr. Fleshbot April!
