Jake Waters Talks Dating in the Industry, Being Black in the Industry, and Getting Rimmed… in the Industry

INTERVIEWS

I am lucky to say that I have gotten to become friends with the deliciously sweet Jake Waters. We have now worked together (fucked) on a few studio shoots, and have some yummy content together on our Fans pages. Not only is he a cummy joy to watch on screen but also has some of the freshest and most intelligent conversations that I have had on the West Coast. That being said, I'll stfu and let this stud share his own words...

How did you get your start in the industry?

I got my start by reaching out to Chi  Chi LaRue one day. That then led to a great conversation. There were a few days of chatting and texting, and the next thing I knew I was on a flight to LA to be in my first scene. My first shoot was for Noir Male.

How is it to work with Noir Male?

Working with Noir was great. I liked that they primarily work with men of color. They allow two men of color to express themselves on film whereas some other studios aren't giving a lot of attention to us. With some studios, we are always paired with another model who might not be as melanated.

What has your experience been as a performer of color in the industry?

My experience as a man of color in this industry has been eye-opening and a bit of a struggle, to be honest. I have a nice following of fans who support me and love the work that I do, but when it comes to studios, it feels like I'm too Black for them, and they can only use me or another person of color every once in a while.

I’ve worked for a few studios in the past who would tell me to my face "You did a great job. We can't wait to shoot you again." Then months or even years would go by, and nothing. If I reach out to them, they would give me the same story. "We usually shoot all of our exclusive models first and add in some non-exclusive models occasionally. We try not to shoot the same non-exclusives too often. This way we can rotate the models in and out." Which makes perfect sense. Then I see non-melanated peers who are also not exclusive to that studio consistently booking work with the same studios that told me that they don’t want to work with the same models too often.

Please don't get me wrong. I'm happy that my peers are working. We all have bills to pay, and I do not hold them accountable for the studios' actions. It's heartbreaking that I'm told one thing, but then I see opportunities going to all of these other performers.

Do you think studios have the power to sculpt the preferences of their audience?

Absolutely they do. Go back and look at the porn that has been put out since the late sixties and seventies, and look at how the guys have changed over the years. They went from hairy muscular men to shaved men and from there to leaner, moderately groomed men. Through these phases, the default has always been white. That’s all that mainstream porn has offered. Of course, every once in a while they throw men of color in but then the terms “Mandingo,” “BBC,” or whatever other branding are slapped on there. Men of color have always been made secondary.

I’ve been told a few times that scenes consisting of two men of color “simply don’t sell or make money.” That’s just not true. If studios consistently put out scenes like that, two men of color, it will create beautiful content, and people will respond to it. You just need to consistently put it out there like they do with all their other scenes. They can't do it once in a while.

How did you meet your now finance, Dillon Diaz?

I met him on set. I saw him on my very first shoot with Noir Male. He was shooting the scene after mine. We talked later that night after we were both finished, but it was a very short conversation. I really got to know him the next day when we were scene partners. He was filling in as a last-minute change. We just hit it off.

What is it like dating in the industry?

For me, fairly easy. Before Dillon and I made it official, I was dating someone else. I told my then-boyfriend that I was in the adult industry and shot two scenes. He said he was okay with it. Then the pandemic hit. Once the studios started opening and I started working again. My bf got jealous and a bit insecure. So I did what was best for me, and ended the relationship.

For myself and Dillon, it’s been easy. We had a conversation before taking it to the next level about the things we are looking for in a relationship and the things that we would not stand for or tolerate. As adults, we sat down and had uncomfortable talks about both studio work, Fans content, and finding a comfort level we were both okay with. For example, when it comes to shooting collabs, the other model must be able to show us a recent test. We'll talk to each other about potential scene partners, and if one of us is uncomfortable then we don’t do it. We respect each other's boundaries.

You recently shot with KinkMen. Tell us about the scene.

I was a submissive, going to my therapist about my nightmares. We did a little hypnotism to see if I was having nightmares or night terrors. In my dream, I was locked up, caged, roughed about, and fucked. As the scene progresses, you can start to see more and more of my dom’s face. In the end, it turns out that I am having these night terrors about my therapist, that it was him under the mask. It’s a really great scene. I was really impressed. It was with Davin Strong, who is actually quite gentle. He gave a very excellent performance.

The scene was shot and directed by Micah Martinez who is amazing to work with, love him.

What do you like most about working with KinkMen.com?

It allows me to explore my boundaries and limits. It pushes me outside of my comfort zone. Having sex on a bed is nice, but it is a bit expected. With Kink, it's a whole other level. Whips, chains, floggers, electricity, blindfolds, and so much more. It's dark, dingy, and grungy and it allows me to explore a side of myself that I may have suppressed.

What turns you on the most?

I love my nipples being played with. I also love getting rimmed. I’m talking full tongue, there's a spot inside my ass where if it gets touched, it's over. You can do whatever you want to me at that point.

I like soft-spoken but aggressive dirty talk, like, “this ass is mine," “Oh my god your ass feels so good I can't wait to cum inside you.” Not so much “does this feel good to you?” it's a bit trite. I like it when it’s authentic.

I also love when someone manhandles me and completely takes control. I’m talking about flipping me over, smacking my ass, and owning it. Really own it. I want to know that they know what they're doing back there.

What direction do you see porn going in in the near future?

I see that it is getting more diverse. More open and free, especially with the times changing and people becoming more comfortable with their bodies. People are less ashamed to say they watch porn, make porn, or that they’re in the adult industry. Whether that's in front of or behind the camera.

I see a wider range of trans performers stepping into the light and owning it. I love it. I love that people aren’t afraid to become cross-over performances whether it’s gay, straight, bi, trans, or kink, people are getting more comfortable stepping away from their base and trying something new. Whether they vibe with it or not, they are comfortable stepping away from what they are familiar with and at least trying something different.

What’s next for Jake Waters?

Writing and directing. I have written a full 4-part script and have talked to some studios about it. I still have some edits but it’s going to happen. I also want to get behind the camera and direct. I want the visions that I have to come to fruition. I also want to see more people of color writing and directing. I want to show this industry that we are more than just a body. We’re smart and articulate!
