Marica Hase’s Simmered Yellowtail with Daikon

15min cooking time (total 25min)

 

Serves 2 people

Yellowtail

 

Ingredients:

 

  • Yellowtail
  • Daikon (Japanese radish)
  • Water
  • Sugar
  • Sake
  • Soy Sauce
  • Ginger

 

Preparation:

Peel the skin off the Japanese radish then slice them about 1cm each.

Add a teaspoon of water, put saran wrap on them, and microwave for 6 min.

Shred ginger, add sugar, water, sake and soy sauce, and then put into a pot and boil them.

Slice the yellowtail 3cm each.

Add the yellowtail and skim the foam from the top of the soup. 

Add the Japanese radish. 

Drop a piece of aluminum foil/cooking paper directly on the food to cover it entirely. 

Simmer on low to medium heat for 15 minutes.
