Introspection

First of all, ask yourself why did you choose to be in the adult industry in the first place? What drove you to this path?

 

If your answer is fame and money then this in my experienced opinion, is not the place for you. If your reasons were more personal and something felt as if it just made sense. It was your calling. It embraced you as a human. It fed a need in your soul. It accepted you as the person and you could see that your gifts/artistry could prosper and grow within this industry, then you have found your home in the adult industry.

 

You will as a performer, truly BECOME a second person. This industry is unique in that most of us do not use our real names nor do we want our identities known. This is the reason for a stage name. As my past columns have addressed, understand these days that if you choose this path then your identity will be known. Facial recognition is built into our infrastructure and the internet knows who you are so accept that fact before making the choice to join our industry. This 2nd person you choose to be is a part of you. For me it is the strongest part of my personality because for me; sex is my super power. I am a work from home mom the majority of the time and I am a porn star to the rest of the world. This is likely the story for quite a few of us male or female in our industry. When you choose this path, understand it is NOT just a job; it is a life choice. Your second person does not disappear just because you stop working or take a break. It is part of you so embrace it. Love that part of you and go for it. No holds barred or don’t. The choice is yours but know what you're getting into. Personally, I would not have it any other way. YOU meaning the adult industry are my TRIBE. YOU are my people. YOU are my family.

 

When I say find your gifts, that means look within yourself and truly identify what you were put here on this earth to do. It is different for everyone and your environment, circumstances, hardships, mental disorders, family life, etc. all can hinder your own introspection. All these things can stop you from finding your gifts. I am personally here to help you break through all the barriers that have stopped you from opening up yourself to the true authentic person you were born to be. As a Life Coach and mentor, I am here to guide you in finding your true self and using that knowledge to build your skills on a pathway to success in all aspects of your life. It will not be an easy task. It take a lot of introspection. You must stop looking at the outside world for validation and look within yourself to find what truly feeds your mind and your soul.

 

I normally give practical advice and I will continue to do so in coming columns but for this one, I wanted to speak to each of you as human beings. We are all collectively going through an enormous worldwide crisis. It is very important to put aside your differences with the people you love and reach out to them at this time. It is important to understand you are not alone in your feelings of concern, worry, sadness, stress, boredom, anxiety, and fear. We are all feeling these roller coasters of emotions right now but instead of focusing on what is going on in the outside world, I believe it is a great time to focus on yourself. Take care of those around you but also begin to truly evaluate your own life and how you are approaching it. Start asking yourself what makes you happy? Are you doing the job, you really want to do? Are you living your most authentic life? What can you do daily to bring positivity in your life and structure when your external structure has been removed.

 

It is time for all of us to consider the human experience and ourselves as humans on this earth. Why are we here and what can we contribute? What innate gifts were we given that we can now apply to our art and performances and truly shine through all of the darkness.
