This recipe is for a super quick biscuit that still hits home for this southern girl. The game is to try and have the dough all ready to go by the time the oven preheats.
Makes about a dozen biscuits.
Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 500 degrees F.
2. Sift flour, baking powder, salt together in a bowl. Stir in the cream until the dough sticks together in a ball.
3. Turn the dough out onto a clean surface dusted with flour. Using your hands, flatten out the dough and then fold it in half at least five times -- this'll create the flaky biscuit texture.
4. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough out to 1/2in thickness.
5. Using a biscuit cutter, dough cutter, clean metal can, or whatever you have handy, cut dough into biscuits.
6. Place on baking sheet sprayed with cooking oil, leaving room for the dough to rise.
7. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
