In this industry, we have something called “call-times” which is pretty much your time to “clock-in” on a porn set. Now, a porn set is the last place to see people clock in and out of. It just doesn’t happen like that (that was just a comparison). What happens is everyone arrives at their allotted time according to their role in this profession. If their profession is to PLAY a role themselves that makes them the talent. They’re usually called on location early to get hair and makeup done. Now on Mime Freak’s set, he likes to make his talent feel welcome and tries to get there early:
“I usually get to my office around 8 or 9 am if it’s a day shoot. I usually like to be there to greet my talent so they can get a good vibe from the start. I don’t really like to have anyone wait for me”
Like every trade, there are tools involved. Mime Freak's version of swinging a hammer is operating high-end cameras tailor-made for filming high-quality video product. Photography plays a huge part in producing these adult films we enjoy. Sure it may seem like industry jargon when they talk gear but you can’t deny any level of fascination when you hear a director speak tech talk:
“I’ve been shooting with the Sony A7sii for about three years now. I love the ISO feature that’s really good at capturing low light projects. As far as photography goes I’ve been using the Canon Mark III since I’ve been shooting.”
If you’re familiar with the ArchAngel brand then Mime Freak’s name isn’t foreign to you. Don’t think of it as a tacky way to spread a tag or franchise out even though it sounds like a stage name itself. This director has earned his title on every film for whatever franchise he swings that camera for:
“Truth be told there are a lot of directors and industry personnel that does not get enough credit. I never demanded my name to be plastered on everything. I’m cut from the old school. If you are a hard worker then your name should be known.”
Daisy Stone from The Booty Movie 7.
I can beat you over the head with comparisons like how Mime can be considered a coach leading his players through a victorious bout over and over again. A great leader recognizes the quality of having worthy soldiers to command. These ranks are filled with such warriors as editors who Mime Freak fully realizes as a vital facet of his production force:
“When it comes to post production I have two amazing editors that are in control of editing my films. I usually sit with them and tell them the vision that I have and I give them full range to be creative with what I’m shooting. I’m not the type of director that will breathe down my employee's backs to get them to do what I need.”
The phrase “being a part of something greater” is what comes to mind when I hear a director like Mime Freak describe his vision like this. The ArchAngel brand is always up to something and still hails itself as a fan-friendly service providing some of the most sought-after adult entertainment.
