As I was watching the AVN Award Show on Saturday Jan.27th via a live feed thanks to Myfreecams.com, Greg Lansky took the stage to accept his award for Director of the Year. Moments later, he asked Kevin Moore to kindly join him on stage. At first I didn’t know who he was until I saw the t-shirt he was wearing. It bore the likeness of the late August Ames...his wife. Kevin spent most of his time over at the Evil Angel Booth at the Adult Expo giving away the shirts in tribute his wife and the other ladies that had recently passed away. His word was a fitting tribute to August.
If you’ve read the twitter feeds last night after the Award Show, Manuel Ferrara said “One of the classiest moments I’ve witness in this industry was when GregLansky won director of the year and invited Kevin Moore on stage to do the most emotional speech ever.” Kevin took that moment to speak up against cyber-bullying.
So much has been said about it and now it must FINALLY to come to an End. It’s so much easier to help one another than tear each other down. This business is already cut throat and it’s about time that We as an Whole need to take the time to look after one another and that means to actually be there for the other no matter what time of day it is or how minor the matter at hand might be.
There are way too many young women entering the industry who aren’t being told about the “Good and Bad” and just how toxic it can become to someone that doesn’t have the backbone to withstand the trolls and haters that can bring even the strongest of person down and second guess themselves.
The adult industry has suffered a series of tragic losses with the untimely deaths of August Ames, Shyla Stylez, Yurizan Beltran, Olivia Nova and Oliva Lua. Each of these women entered the industry for their own reasons and were hoping to make a name for themselves, yet porn has long been haunted by mental illness and substance abuse which until now has never been spoken of. It is literally an even bigger problem than anyone outside the industry is made aware of or anyone within the porn world is willing to do anything to change it.
Hopefully with The August Project headed by Kevin Moore, there finally can be a place for anyone in the Industry that is suffering silently with Depression, Anxiety or any form of Substance Abuse can turn to for help without fear of being “OUTED” to others within the Industry.
I never had the pleasure of meeting any of the Beautiful Souls that left us too early in their lives but from what I have read, each one of these Women had an Inner Beauty that shined brightly and because of the sheer ignorance of others they are no longer with Us….
To Kevin Moore…. You did NOT Fail August nor her Family…Society failed them!
