Hi Mandy, I love that you are into all sorts of freaky sex acts. I am a fan of bondage and BDSM action. How did you become interested in these types of activities?

I guess it was kind of a circuitous route really. I was exposed to BDSM through a couple of lovers I had as well as being exposed to it as a part of radical queer culture. I'm not sure how deep you want me to get into this story because it's kind of complicated and might confuse people. Suffice it to say, I learned that I love pain. I love receiving it. I love inflicting it. I find it enthralling. I don't really get off on dominance or submission nearly as much as I do the trust that comes with letting someone take control, inflict pain, etc.. It just feels really good to go on a journey like that with people.

Since you are known to push the limits of transsexual porn and be an innovator, what is your reasoning behind this fun madness?

Very simple really. I want to be in movies where I get to do the things that get me off. When I started in the biz, nobody was really making movies that looked anything like the sex I liked to have in my private life. I guess as a performer, I was okay at shooting the kinds of scenes fans of the niche were used to watching, but it didn't make me happy and the money wasn't good enough to really try and make it work. Over time, I got more and more support to just shoot with who I wanted to shoot with and people encouraged me to just be me. So I did. And I do. Now, I just kind of get on these kicks where I focus on a particular person (Hollie Stevens, Cherry Torn, etc.), or set of activities or ideas that I find captivating (jealousy, pain, worship). It's a pretty selfish endeavor when you think about it. I make movies that I want to jerk off to. People probably see that as innovative because it's not following a formula which is good for me because it lets me keep doing it.

How long have you been in the industry? What have been your most pleasurable moments so far? What has been your least pleasurable ones?

I don't even know where to begin. The sex and the friendships. I feel like the adult industry for all of it's problems has thrown some really amazing people into my life and when the sex is good, it's fucking good. 

How did you get into the adult industry?

I had dabbled in sex work off and on for quite a few years and had decided to leave it behind and find straight work when a photographer contacted me and asked if I wanted to shoot for a porn site called shemaleyum.com. I knew nothing about tranny porn and the name made me feel weird inside, but I decided to give it a shot. He came over to my loft in an old whorehouse next to the Albina trainyard. I put a Serge Gainsbourg record on and jerked off. Things kinda picked up steam from there.

What does all of the recognition that you receive from fans mean to you? Do your fans recognize you while you go grocery shopping and live your life away from the adult scene?

I've never really thought about it. I kind of hate computers and tend to hang out in the randomest of places with people who I don't think watch much porn. So most of the time I am just me, not Mandy Mitchell, and I kind of forget that I have a very public persona. That is until the toll bridge operator tells me he loves me, or friends bring up babbling teen fans begging to be introduced at parties in the woods. I'm aware of it in those moments, and I usually laugh and demand to know if they pirate my porn or pay for it, and then accuse them of mind raping me if they steal my porn. But usually I'm oblivious.

What traits of a woman do you admire most? What makes a woman sexy? What traits of a man do you admire most? What makes a man sexy?

Scent! I love the way women smell, especially when they are just about to bleed or in the first part of their cycle. I'm a total pheromone junkie, and when a girl has the right smell I'm down for anything.

I like tall guys, and a handlebar mustache is sexy as hell.

What was the biggest surprise for you about the adult industry when you started?

How openly accepted bigotry is. Because everyone I knew in the adult world for a long time was queer. I had no idea how openly hateful and misinformed people were towards TS in the broader adult industry. People in my niche tried to explain it to me over and over and it really took me by surprise and still takes me by surprise. That my existence and sexuality is
controversial is such a trip. I just forget about it and chase after hot people, until someone brings it up. How they could lose work because of me, fans, etc.? It's bizarre.

Are there any particular industry talent (actors, actresses, directors, studios) who you want to work very badly with and why? What would be your dream scene?

At this point I'm pretty content with who I'm working with. I'd love to work for Belladonna at some point cause she makes movies about things I'm kind of obsessed with so I'd probably have a blast. But all in all, I feel really good about the people I've been shooting these last couple of years. I'm super excited about a scene I will hopefully be doing with Roxy Raye & Jay Sin in a couple of days. I've been wanting to shoot with Roxy for a very long time and Jay and I work really well together.

How were you as a kid growing up?

Totally batshit insane. Smart freaky devil child.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I like drugs, sex and classical piano. LOL. I like to play music, have sex parties, travel, garden, hike, alternative living, polyamory, social justice, and apocalypse.

What is your favorite thing about being an adult performer?

Are there any web sites or future projects that you would like to promote? What are you currently working on film wise?

I've been shooting a lot of amazing content in collaboration with Jay Sin over the last several months. Some of which will be released on DVD, some on an upcoming website of his, and much of which is already available on mine. I feel like Jay and I are really on the same page and I'm super turned on by the scenes I've been shooting.
