Here's a little article from my old pal Nate Glass at Porn Newz regarding the state of piracy in porn. You can consider this an advertisement for his services or just a quick look at his current observations about piracy but his advice on how to combat it on your own is both sensible and cheap. And lest it be said that this article attacks anyone, keep in mind that the enemy is not Nate, but the pirates stealing the hard work from production companies, many of whom might find it worthwhile to to send a few emails to sites handing out their movies for free...
"The Don"
It's
that time again. Your report cards are here and you're only being
graded in one course....Digital Piracy. How does each studio measure up
when it comes to digital piracy and their efforts to curb it? Let's
just say it ain't pretty. There's a whole bunch of studios that
complain about piracy, yet many of those same studios are actually
doing the worst job to curb it. So what grade will Nate give each
studio...
For the purpose of this report, I used the largest porn-only torrent
site. This is a site with a lot of traffic, lots of users and also
complies with DMCA requests within 24 hours. That means that any
torrent uploaded to this site could be deleted within 24 hours, so
there's really no excuse for something to be up on this site for more
than a day. To keep this report fair I simply searched for the
studio's name on the site. I did not look for specific series, titles
or stars. So the results reported here are only a fraction of the
total amount of exposure each of these studios has on this site.
So without futher delay...let's hand out some report cards!

Now this is a very informal study. You could make the case that the
less in-demand studios will be pirated less and the more in-demand
studios will obviously be more likely pirated. There's no denying
that. But again I would point out that this site in question removes
pirated material within 24 hours. So there's no excuse for Evil Angel
to have 520+ torrents up on this site. It takes about 10 seconds to
copy and paste a URL, so with about 90 minutes worth of work Evil Angel
could make a huge dent....but for some reason they don't.
What's incredibly ironic is that just a few days ago I saw Jonni
Darkko complaining about pirates on ADT. What Jonni
doesn't seem to realize is that the studio he works for does an
absolutely terrible job of protecting his content online. Hey
Jonni...Darkko's Dirtiest Sluts and E for Eva have each been downloaded
over 6000 times on this site alone. Maybe if Evil Angel would be
proactive and actually protect their content you wouldn't have as much
to complain about. But don't worry Jonni, Evil Angel "has someone for
that" and apparently he's really doing a bang-up job.
I don't mean to bag on Evil Angel. John Stagliano is clearly a
brilliant man and one of the most-respected men in the history of our
industry. But this report shows that some of the largest studios in
our industry are doing a terrible job of protecting their content. The
top 20% of studios make up 70% of all the results. Can you imagine
what would happen to online piracy if all of these studios would take
this problem seriously and actually hire either me (Operation Takedown
Piracy) or Eric (Remove Your Content)? Or better yet...both of us?
So when you studios have had enough of getting your content ripped off, let me know. In 4.5 months Operation: Takedown Piracy has removed over 90,000 infringing files on behalf of our partners.
With a little bit of effort we can move you out of that "F" Grade and
help you get straight A's.
OTP keeps your content elusive and exclusive. For less cost than
you'd pay a minimum wage part-time worker we can remove your content
from 100s of sites. Hit me up for more details!
