Tampa, FL/ A Entertainment News- Since 1904 the pirates have been invading Tampa and taking over the city. The invasion is followed by a parade down the streets of Tampa and since the tales of pirates say they like to drink, the good people of Tampa Bay line the streets and do the drinking with the invading pirates.
We believe it is sort of peace offering to the pirates. A welcome to my town, lets all drink together bonding experience. The people we went to the parade with were more than fine with the notion of trying to out drink the pirates on invasion day.
To be fair to our group of revelers we were sailing with, the event is touted as Tampa Bay's version of Mardi Gras and if you have ever been on the streets of New Orleans for that liquid event, you probably have seen the perfect candidates for the extreme drinking team. Well after our experience at the Pirate fest we can confirm that it was just like that. There were parades, beads, costumes, and there was plenty of drinking.
We were escorted to the event by a few young ladies from the Adult industry and the wild Tampa Bay crew who have named themselves the Shady Bastards. Feature Entertainer Robyn Foxx and Porn Starlet Morgan Dayne were with us in our group, the Shady Bastards Crew had characters with names like Uncle Shady, Lobster Boy, Beefy, Shady Ant, and Clem Shady.
For the entertainment portion of the event before the pirates ran aground the crew had set up some great activities. We had an ice sculpture carved in the shape of a big slide, at the top was a spot to pour the rum down, and the bottom had a opening where you were to lay your face and open wide. The theory here is the liquor gets chilled while sliding down the ice before it gets to your face. After several "Myth Buster" attempts to bust or confirm, we are able to confirm the theory, it's cold when it get to your mouth. Another form of entertainment was the "Wheel of Drunken Nakedness", well it wasn't really called that when we started but the wheel, which resembles a mini wheel of fortune, earned the name by the end of the day. On each spoke of the wheel was an instruction. Words such as, Flash, Ass, Beads, Drink, Shots, and Can of Beer, were printed on the wheel. I was hoping it was rigged to come up Flash the majority of the time, but it was not, it seemed to land on the drinking slots the most. After a few spins and drinks, the flashing came naturally for most of the girls.
My time at the Gasparilla invasion and parade allowed me to do some things I have not done in quite a while. I got to drink beer in a can that was kept in coolers; everyone in the group brought one. I got to drink Jager out of the magnum bottle that someone brought, I got to sit under a highway overpass, stand in the dirt while eating my burger grilled on the community grill, and I got to hang out with some old friends in Tampa. The last one made it all worth while.
As you scan through the pictures from the day you will notice that there are not many pictures of the Gasparilla Parade, the pre parade entertainment is the reason for this. It was like tailgating all morning long and missing the game. The cool part of that is, No One cared by then if the pirates invaded or not.
Thanks to the crew from the Shady Bastards, The guys with the RV, the pirates and the industry girls for hanging out with us. Drunken Debauchery was had by all.
