Pirates, Joanna Angel, The Pocket Rocket and Mrs. Behavin’

This week we're happy to take the wraps off of a new Blue Room! Over the past few month's we've gotten a lot of great comments and feedback on The Blue Room, and many of you want MORE! Spotlight Title: Pirates

It's hard to pick from all the blockbuster adult titles for this week's spotlight title. There are just so many great Adult titles that have been released... it's a nice problem to have. Why so many great adult DVDs? All the big adult studios raced to get their titles out by the end of September AVN Award deadline. The result - a wonderful bounty for the adult DVD consumer.

Of all the releases, my expectations were the highest for the much hyped release Pirates (a landmark co-production between Digital Playground and Adam & Eve). Pirates features some of the most popular adult stars in the industry, and is rumored to be the most expensive adult film ever made. So does the final product live up to the hype and my uber high expectations? Aye matey, it does!

Offered up in a very attractive 3-DVD set, Pirates blows away pretty much any previous adult release I can think of. The movie has been shot with massive use of green-screen effects, and while some of them look cheesy compared to what we're used to seeing on TV and the big screen (the ships in particular look fake), others are virtually seamless (for example, I didn't know a mountain was added into the background of a shot until I checked out the bonus feature about the effects). It's also been shot in High-Definition, and Digital Playground has included a Windows Media HD DVD in addition to a standard one on this set, so you can watch the HD version on your computer...assuming your system is up to specs (2.5 GHz or better, and a Windows Media compliant player).

But being a porn fan, you probably care more about the sex anyway, correct? Well, Pirates offers up 10 sizzling (or should that be "swashbuckling"?!) scenes that include a wild lesbian romp between stars Jesse Jane and Carmen Luvana; an equally torrid pairing between Jesse and Janine; plus some hot boy/girl action between star Evan Stone and Digital Playground girls Devon and Teagan Presley.

Bonus features on Disc Two of this set include an approximately 30-minute behind the scenes segment; a featurette on the special effects; a bloopers reel; a nice photo gallery; and footage of some actresses and actors who auditioned for Pirates. Over on the first DVD, in addition to the film itself (which is 16x9 widescreen and has a 5.1 Dolby soundtrack) is a feature-length audio commentary with director Joone as well as Jesse Jane, Carmen Luvana, Janine and Tommy Gunn. Spotlight Performer: Joanna Angel

There are times when pornstars have the status of rockstars. Mention Jenna Jameson to someone who has never watched a porn in their life and they'll know who you are talking about. But what about pornstars who are much more LIKE rockstars? This is the case with adult star Joanna Angel, who has started to make serious waves in the adult industry. This Rutgers University graduate isn't your typical porn star. She doesn't have the long blonde hair and is more known for her tattoos than her tits. Along with fellow RU alumni Mitch Fontaine, Joanna created BurningAngel.com and has seen her career skyrocket with the release of BurningAngel.com: The Movie - (which not only features some hardcore sex, but also interviews with some great bands including My Chemical Romance) and Re-Penetrator (a spoof of the classic horror film, Re-Animator).

Recently, Angel has spread her wings with the release of her film Joanna's Angels through VCA. She's appeared on AVN.com three times in the past month and even gets some wide attention when she gets a new tattoo (which of course she got while being interviewed live on the radio). Creating a buzz with a different kind of adult film, Angel shows off her skills (and her tattoos) in upcoming releases such as Gothsend 4 (DVSX) and Kill Girl Kill 3 (VCA). All this while she and her Burning Angel crew finish up the filming for their latest independently-produced horror spoof: XXXorcist. Joanna Angel is at the head of a whole new wave of porn and is definitely one to watch!

First off, there's a bit of a misconception about 'sex toys'. Many people see them as something that are used more for masturbation than as something couples can share. Top Recommended Adult DVDs Reviewed This Month on X Critic

One of the better titles released of late has suffered with all the hype a couple of other movies have received from the press and that's a shame since at any other time of the year, it'd be a standout hit. The name of the movie is Robinson Crusoe on Sin Island: Collector's Edition and Private went to a lot of effort to finish it under the wire of awards deadlines. The story should be familiar to all of you; a man shipwrecked on a deserted island finds himself alone and living off the land in this costume drama set in the 1700's. The twist that Private gave it was to have Robinson getting some heated action from native girl Wednesday. With two full discs and a collectable booklet, the DVD set is something you won't want to miss.

If ever there was a starlet in porn that had name recognition, it'd be the lovely Jenna Jameson. Finally seeing the light of day is her venture into the world of BDSM that was filmed a few years back is Jenna Loves Pain; her homage to the exciting world of pleasure mixed with pain. Seeing Jenna play both a dominant and a submissive in separate scenes, I wasn't sure why Club Jenna sat on it so long, especially since Nina Hartley's scene was among her best in a very long (and hard) time. Nina's husband, Ernest Green, shot this one and the attention to detail was evident, even if the movie itself seemed focused on the mind games of bondage more than the usual antics Jenna is known for.

Next up were two well received releases from powerhouse Erik Everhard; Out Numbered 3: Collector's Edition and Ass Obsessed 4: Collector's Edition. As Red Light District dukes it out for domination in the ever expansive world of gonzo porn, they have been providing more of these collector editions to provide some serious fuck for the buck to fans wanting lots of quantity to go with their quality. The first focused on reverse gangbangs where Erik and company were greatly, and luckily, outnumbered by some of the hottest gals in porn, while the second showed his true appreciation for the female ass with a plethora of gals ready, willing, and able to get some hardcore loving in the backdoor.

Those of you that remember all the "nerd" movies of the 1980's and 1990's might want to check out the entertaining porn parody of Shane's World: Nerdz, where some geeks try to break into the porn business via a college public access show they create. Their main goal is to finally get laid with the movie showing that innovation and creativity combined with perseverance can help losers get some fine loving from coeds that would've otherwise laughed them off. The road to fame, fortune, and blow jobs was a bumpy one though, with guest appearances by Stephanie Swift and Nic Andrews in this very amusing show.

While point of view (POV) porn is commonplace these days, it all started out with the various virtual sex releases by a couple of companies trying to find new ways to get you off (and get some more money in their pockets). The genre that was founded was the virtual sex release and My Plaything: Rita Faltoyano is the latest offering by Digital Sin in this field. Controlling the every move of the lovely Hungarian as she sucks, fucks and coaxes a load out of your manhood may sound like marketing hype to some of you but fans will never have as much of an opportunity to play with her as they do here. Rita does anal action too so you can safely say that no hole is left untouched in this recommended title.

Lastly, fans have been passionate about their desire for two things in recent months; swallowing videos and creampies. While mutually exclusive to one another, they are two of the fastest growing adult genres on the market and fans are buying them like crazy. Creampie fans will be in hog heaven with Sperm Filled Sluts 1 and Sperm Filled Sluts 2 by director David Luger at Platinum X Pictures. If anyone could provide an everyman's look into filling up the gals with semen, Dave's the guy for the job as he combines some of the hottest newcomers in porn with some of the best load droppers available outside of Peter North. Every creampie looked genuine and every gal looked satisfied so fans of the genre might want to take a look.

Titles We're Looking Forward To

As porn superstar Janine stages something of a comeback due to her signing of a contract with Digital Playground as well as her recent move to include sex with men in her movies like Janine's Got Male, it should come as no surprise that two of the most awaited titles of the month are Mrs. Behavin' and Janine's Been Blackmaled , each featuring the lovely blonde as she shows fans and critics alike that she has more passion then gals half her age, and a look most of them would kill for. The added kink of her doing interracial in both movies should be more than enough to quiet those who have long claimed that the hotty was unfriendly to men of color.

Another title long awaited from the hands of porn god Jules Jordan is Ass Worship 8 , the sequel to award winning hits such as Ass Worship 7 and Ass Worship 6. Fans of anal sex will immediately recognize the names on the cast list as top notch backdoor beauties whose only limits are the imagination of the men leading them into the battle for anal supremacy against all comers. Rumored to have over four hours of entertainment jammed onto the two discs included in the set, I suspect a lot of fans will join the battle using hand-to-gland combat as their fighting style of choice with this one as their inspiration.

With the runaway success of Red Light District's first feature film Darkside by director James Avalon, it came as no surprise that the company would commission the infamous director to show the world that the company wasn't just the leading provider of gonzo with his follow-up release of Sex Pix . Look for a review in coming weeks of this story of a gal trying to figure out how she came to wake up naked in a motel room by using a series of photographs taken during her various twisted acts of depravity with orgies, sex clubs, and a whole lot of kinky pals. At the rate Avalon's going, it won't be long before the name Red Light District comes to mean a lot more to fans who previously thought sex in features was for couples only

Overlooked Titles You May Have Missed

With all the gonzo titles pouring into our reviewer's hands, it'd be easy to overlook the occasional title that falls far outside the norm and into the erotica category like Candida Royalle's Rites of Passion. Our own female muse, Goldenmuse to be exact, joined the legions of fans worshipping at the alter of the legendary Candida Royalle upon seeing this little blast from the past last month. Using humor, beauty, and empowerment as central drawing points, she found this to be "the ultimate his-and-her adult film" so couples looking for something to enjoy might want to check it out.

In the field of comedy porn, there are only a handful of directors that can alternately pull off a combination of horror flick and quality porno like Camp Cuddly Pines Powertool Massacre by Jonathan Morgan. With all the reviews submitted in recent weeks, it might've been easy to miss this one but with Halloween just around the corner, it'd be a shame if you passed up the best comedy release of the year. With a cast of hotties including Jessica Drake, Stormy Daniels, Katja Kassin, Rita Faltoyano and more, Wicked Pictures once again surpasses their competitors to come up with the perfect movie to spend All Hallows Eve with, especially if you're spending it with a loved one.

In terms of fuck for the buck, it'd be difficult to argue that some of the recent "collector editions" released by companies like Red Light District and Evil Angel were anything less than outstanding. One of the most comprehensive of the pack that might've slipped past you if you blinked was Evil Vault 2, a selection of scenes not available anywhere else that included scenes with Teagan Presley and Keri Sable before they signed contracts elsewhere, but also 27 other performers engaged in all sorts of deviant behavior for your viewing pleasure. The running time of nearly 5 and a half hours doesn't even include the extensive collection of bonus material that adds nearly another hour; all for the price of a single movie!

In terms of Asian hotties, few would argue that Invasian 2 wasn't worth a second look if you passed it up on the review board earlier this month. The sequel to the award winning Invasian 1, it starred a selection of the most talented and attractive gals in the jizz biz, especially if you prefer women of Asian descent. With gals like Lucy Thai, Sabrine Maui, Nautica Thorn, and Katsumi on the menu, eating sushi should easily be in vogue again as Jules Jordan put them through their paces in this wonderfully diverse piece of porn that lasted the better part of four hours if you include the sweet extras offered up on the two disc set.
