David Lee took home Fleshbot Awards' 2022 "Best New Male Talent" and "Best Oral Scene"!

Besides being obviously handsome, David Lee is smart, charming, funny, enlightened, and kind. He was a pleasure to interview, and his transparent and humble nature made it easy to get to know him. As I congratulated David on his fantastic accomplishment, I realized he didn’t know that his fans had voted for him to receive the awards! He was genuinely shocked and impressed by his fans' incredible support, considering he’s only been in the industry for two years.

DAVID LEE ON WINNING MULTIPLE FLESHBOT AWARDS

Winning Fleshbot Awards’ “Best Oral Scene” when he also won “Best New Male Talent” is a considerable achievement considering the quality of talent and production that was nominated. And if we consider that fans chose to invest the effort and time to vote for David and “Snoop Around,” it’s a career-determining success. The dreamy grin on David’s face when I mentioned Delphine Films’ “Snoop Around” with Kira Noir was incredible. Check it out! It’s clear that he has great memories of the shoot, and if you watched, you know their chemistry is palpable.

What do you think was different and significant about “Snoop Around”? Did you know you were creating something amazing?

Yes. Right away and during filming that day, I noticed that the crew, the lighting, the scenery, and everything about it was great. I recall talking to Kira that day about how much fun it was because we were running around giggling like high school kids having fun between filming. It was a good day, and the chemistry between her and me that day was just on point. That’s what I strive for and try to achieve every time; make everyone feel comfortable, enjoy themselves, and have good communication and chemistry. I can’t have that with everybody, but I do the best I can.

DAVID LEE ON “SNOOP AROUND”

Besides being voted Fleshbot Awards’ 2022 “Best New Male Talent” and “Best Oral Scene,” this year you were also nominated for several awards including best new performer/ talent/ stud by AVN, XBIZ, and XRCO.

“WOW! Well, damn David.”

David Lee was surprised, flattered, and excited to hear about his success. He couldn’t stop laughing and enjoying the fantastic news. Please look at the surprise on his face above. David emphasized that despite his success, he doesn’t let it go to his head and stays humble to continue to do what he’s doing correctly and focus on him:

“These awards are accomplishments, goals, and things I needed to achieve. But I’m not going to let it affect my attitude, personality, work ethic, or anything like that because those awards are honestly for my parents.”

David never considered being an adult actor even though his parents were in the industry. It’s very important for him to be private about it and earn his place in the industry through merit instead of using their names. And David’s mother has been very supportive of his choices and career. “She is the spark that made it all happen.” Two years ago on a set, David Lee was confused as talent. He wondered, “why not?” and his mom encouraged him to do it. But she asked him to not do it for the money, to be the best at it. He nodded and agreed. So now, receiving all these nominations and awards, is making him feel “motivated, exhilarated, and just out-fucking-standing.”

What is your ethnicity? Do you feel like coming from a different culture, different mind set, and different level of privilege in the US has influenced your career?

David’s father was Russian and Jewish, and his mom is Korean and Buddhist. He was born and lived in Korea for a few years. “We had one towel for the whole family and a communal faucet for the entire building as a shower.” He explained that hearing about his dad’s experience in Vietnam, and his mom’s work in rice paddies when she was young, put his own struggles in context. “It was survival. They were surviving every day.” David’s insight on his own experience is magnificent. There is a difference between struggling and surviving, and between wants and needs. In his career, David knows what he needs to do in order to be successful. What he wants is knowing his parents are proud of that success.

DAVID LEE ON FAMILY AND ETHNICITY

Does it bother you to get Asian roles in porn? Jade Kush and other Asian female adult performers have been very outspoken about the discrimination they have faced in the industry, and about the racist and stereotypical roles they are given. I know there’s A LOT of issues that affect female performers more than their male counterparts, do you think this is one of them? I mean, as a performer, do you think you are defined by your Asian features and heritage?

David Lee explains why he’s not going to react to or let racism affect him:

When I interviewed Damon Dice recently, he said that the most important things a male adult actor has to do to succeed are to take care of your mind/body/soul, show up on time and prepared, and know that you are there to make the girls look good. Would you agree with this?

Yes, for me, it’s the quad: mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual. Being prepared and on time is absolutely true, and we’re professional athletes at what we do. Otherwise, you’re a slob, and it’s unacceptable. And the third is absolutely right; we make them look the best we can. I do the best I can to reciprocate and treat them how they need and deserve to be.

As a starlet, are there other things you do to ensure you keep getting jobs?

Humility, keeping my ego in check, not letting my head blow up, and not being consumed in the larger-than-life lifestyle. It’s so much so fast that it’s almost like a rock star lifestyle that happened so quickly over the past two years that I can see how it’s easy for others to fall into that hole and just get doomed. For me, it’s keeping my ego in check, continuing to focus on me, enjoying the hobbies that I do, and keeping being me, because once your head and ego start inflating… it’s disastrous.

DAVID LEE ON HOW HIS PERSONAL LIFE HAS CHANGED SINCE HE BROKE INTO THE INDUSTRY

Some things have changed since David started working as an adult actor two years ago. One of those things is his personal and romantic relationships. He explained that even though it’s harder for him to have relationships now, it’s not because of the industry; it’s because he’s changed. Like most adult humans with a job, he has developed hobbies and routines that ground him and help him stay sane and healthy. For David, it’s working out, going to the sauna to meditate, larping, painting, and making candles. Focusing on these practices, which help him be his best self in life and work, has taken away time from developing relationships.

Is it accurate to say that you are more focused on professional scenes than exclusive work for your fan sites?

“Yes, I try my best to put out more content in a timely manner and fulfill what they ask for. I do the best I can with the time I have.” He explained how busy he is with professional shoots and said, “This is going to sound crude, but there’s no other way to say it; I have to save my nut for the next day when I shoot.”

I really enjoyed having the opportunity to get to know David Lee better. He wants people to know that sex work doesn’t desensitize people regarding intimacy and sex. It naturalizes sex and distinguishes it from intimacy. Sex can be intimate, but it doesn’t have to be. We need to re-direct sexual education and teach people about anatomy, relationships, and safety instead of abstinence. David knows that the secret to amazing porn star sex is communication about what you want, what you like, and when you want to try something new.
