Kendra Cole: ‘I’m Just Getting Started’

Kendra Cole was looking radiant at the gym when we started our call. She has great energy and was excited to have a conversation and have the opportunity to talk about her appreciation of the industry, her fans, and everything she has planned for the future. She has a striking smile and beautiful, big brown eyes. Kendra is the kind of confident person who looks people in the eyes when they talk. Conversating is a lost art form, but Kendra Cole is an artist.

You started shooting porn in 2014. What were you doing before that?
“I was a CNA in Wisconsin, but I was looking to explore new things.”

How did you get into porn?
“I had just gotten my first apartment back home, and a friend was getting paid for nude images, and they were paying her a pretty decent rate, so I told her I wanted to try it. If she was doing it, I felt it was somewhat trustworthy. But it was weird… they took photos of us in an empty house they had just bought. Then I saw an ad for a porn shoot in Florida, so I called the agent and did a few phone calls. They had paid a girl to convince me to go to Florida. I wouldn’t change anything… because I wouldn’t have met the people I did, and I wouldn’t have been in a certain model house. The house mom made us feel so comfortable, and it was almost like a sorority house, and she was very protective.”

She is aware that if she knew then what she does now, she would have avoided certain people and situations. But she treasures those negative experiences because they helped build the person she is now.

She had been interviewed for Fleshbot in 2015, so we reviewed some of her answers to see what has changed for her in the last seven years.

You said that you were a fan of porn before you got into the industry and that you watched a lot of bondage and rough sex video on kink.com. Is that still your go-to when you watch porn?
“YES, I love kink.com, and I wish I worked with them more often. I love choking and how tight it gets my pussy.”

She asked what the best things about being a porn star are, and this was your answer: "Being around other porn stars, because generally, (if you weed out the crazies just like in real life), porn people are the best type of people. Everyone's generally nice and open and not weird about things. It feels right. Back home, you can't even wear heels without being called a slut, and around porn stars you can walk around naked and still have a normal conversation and still enjoy company. Porn people are different with sexuality and openness than civilians and it makes you never want to go back. The real world is so harsh and judgmental." Do you still feel that way?

Before I got around to asking Kendra about this quote, she said the same thing in another context. She is very grateful to be a part of the industry and have the support of other actors and actresses. She mentioned ‘not feeling judged’ and feeling ‘like she can be herself’ a few times, which feels sincere to me. She has much respect for the people in the industry.

“We’re a loving family, the porn family. For example, when you go to AVN and see all the smiles, whether it’s an older woman in a leash being dragged around by a guy in leather or vice-versa, a lot of people would turn their noses up. But this is the one place on Earth where nobody is turning their nose up. Everybody is comfortable to say what they want to say and do what they want to do, and there’s no judgment.”

Her immense appreciation of the ‘porn family’ and the role it plays in her well-being left me thinking about content creators who don’t do professional porn and how they cope with the scrutiny and stigma of being a sex worker. I told Kendra about this, and she expressed concern about these girls not having proper guidance when it comes to documentation, taxes, and advice on who to work with or not work with.

 Your official site has links to your official social sites. I can see you’re on OnlyFans, Loyal Fans, Sheer, and ManyVids. If a fan can only subscribe to you on one site, which would you recommend?
“Definitely OnlyFans. Right now, it’s the only place where I chat with my fans. It’s a lot of work, and I’m still working on building the other sites.”

What are the biggest differences between shooting professional scenes and creating content for your sites?
“When I’m creating content for my pages, it’s a smaller crew, smaller production… I like hiring a camera guy because I like a good production.”

How do you balance professional scenes and creating content?
“I wish I had more work! This is all I want to do. You just have to get all your ducks in a row.”

This is something else that Kendra reiterated throughout our call. She loves her job, loves shooting, and wants to keep doing it. She mentioned not even thinking about what she’s going to do next because she wants to focus on ‘now’ and do everything she possibly can. I have to say her enthusiasm is impressive, and you can see the passion and fire for achieving her expectations regarding her career. She commented about how people say she’s ‘the most underrated porn star,’ and I can tell she feels like she’s being challenged to leave her mark. She wants to work harder and keep getting better.

What advice would you give other adult performers trying to handle all that work?
“Keep your ducks in order!”

You have a Fleshlight; do you feel like that has helped establish Kendra Cole as a brand?
“Definitely! I love that now anyone can have my vagina and ass in their bedside drawer. I would love for it to be in every store one day… soon.”

What do you want to do on set that you haven’t yet?
