This is a list of 7 fetishes that can be deadly.

1. Asphyxiophilia (autoerotic asphyxiation) is a very dangerous sexual fetish that involves cutting off the oxygen supply to the brain while climaxing. This is often achieved by acts such as suffocation, strangulation, or chest compression. Some attempt this during masturbation with rope, cords, and plastic bags over their heads. When you cut off oxygen to your brain, the result can be a euphoric high with a heightened feeling of pleasure but doing this can be deadly.

“70 to 80% of autoerotic deaths are caused by hanging, while 10 to 30% are attributed to plastic bags or chemical use. Both of these lead to autoerotic asphyxia. 5 to 10% are related to electrocution, foreign body insertion, overdressing/body wrapping, or another atypical method. Specific causes include the use of chemicals such as amyl nitrite, GHB, or nitrous oxide, and props and tools such as knives, oversized dildos, ligatures or bags for asphyxiation, duct tape, electrical apparatus for shocks, water for self-immersion, fire-making equipment for self-immolation, or sharp, unhygienic or large fetishized objects. 2. Bug chasing is the sexual act (usually among gay men) in which a person commits to knowingly attempting to or successfully contracting a sexual virus like HIV. The person seeking is the bug chaser, and the person who complies is the gift giver.Just like people with a breeding fetish don’t necessarily want to get pregnant, bug chasers don’t always want HIV. 3. Vorarephilia has been generally shortened to “vore.” It is the sexual stimulation by the fantasy of being eaten alive, usually swallowed. YIKES! Many act out this fetish by telling stories or creating drawings like manga. This is not cannibalism since it’s consensual, BUT I’m going to tell you a crazy story about when cannibalism WAS consensual.

“Armin Meiwes Metzgermeister (The Master Butcher) — ran a cannibalism fetish site out of his home in Rotenburg, Germany. In 2001, he placed an ad for a willing volunteer, a “well-built 18-to-30-year-old to be slaughtered and then consumed.”

Several folks reportedly expressed interest but backed out at the last minute. Then a young man named Bernd Jürgen Armando Brandes from Berlin answered in the affirmative.

Meiwes filmed their meeting and Brandes’s eventual gory demise. Meiwes cut off the young man’s penis and cooked it with salt, pepper, wine, and garlic, after which they both attempted to eat it. Then Meiwes stabbed the young man in the neck and hung his body on a meat hook.

Over the next 10 months, Meiwes stored Brandes’s body parts in his home and ate up to 44 pounds of his flesh. The footage, still unreleased to the public, would later be used to convict Meiwes and sentence him to life imprisonment.” **

4. Sadomasochism is the act of “giving and/or receiving of pleasure -often sexual- from acts involving the infliction or reception of pain or humiliation.” This is probably one of those mainstream-after-50 shades kinks that can be as vanilla or hardcore as you want. But when taken to the extreme, it can be dangerous and life-threatening. From a psychological point of view, it's also risky when the neural networks that control sexual arousal, aggression, and fear become dangerously intertwined.
5. Coprophilia, scatophilia, or scat is the paraphilia involving sexual arousal from feces. A Cleveland Steamer is when someone defecates on their partner’s chest. A Hot Karl or Hot Saser is defecating on someone who is asleep or defecating on someone’s face while it’s covered in plastic wrap. A Dirty Sanchez consists of feces purposely being smeared onto a partner’s upper lip.

   Although feces play isn’t dangerous as long as you take proper precautions, eating feces greatly increases the risk of parasitic, bacterial, and viral infections.

   Fun fact: Eating your own poop is safer than eating someone else’s.

6. Autassassinophilia is when the risk of being killed sexually arouses a person. This fetish may overlap with other fetishes that can also risk a person’s life. The term was introduced by John Money, who also defined:
7. Erotophonophilia is the “reciprocal condition” in which one is aroused by “stage-managing and carrying out the murder of an unsuspecting sexual partner. Money classified both these paraphilias as "of the sacrificial/expiatory type.” This got me thinking… if I’m aroused at the idea of being killed, my perfect partner would be willing to manage and stage my death. But unfortunately, the “reciprocal condition” erotophonophilia, that, in theory, is the perfect partner, is aroused by the element of unsuspecting and carrying out which causes an obvious consent issue. Lisa Downing explains this perfectly:

“The autassassinophiliac, for Money, is more interested in his orgasm than in his death, resulting in a compulsion to stage manage the possibility rather than the actuality of his end at the hands of another person. The erotophonophiliac, on the other hand, is driven by the actualization of the other's death and – crucially – this other must be unaware of the would-be killer's intentions.”

Safe, Sane, and Consensual is a serious commitment when exploring ANY and ALL sexual fantasies. As always, I intend to share and inform, not kink shame anyone. Maybe I’m a little paranoid, but I was eight years old the first time my mom sat me down and showed me transparencies (cheers to us if you remember those) of how genitals look with different sexually transmitted infections.
