Aila Donovan Discusses Porn, Life, and Her Latest Project for Sweet Sinner

Get to know this super sultry sun-kissed hottie!

Gorgeous star Aila Donovan answered some questions and talked with Fleshbot about, among other things, her new movie Toxic, directed by Jacky St. James and due out from Sweet Sinner in August.

Tell us about Toxic and your past and present work for Sweet Sinner in general. What drew you to the project/company?

“Toxic is a timely film that focuses on open relationships and the struggles and learning curves that come with this type of relationship, that is becoming more and more popular in our generation. We as humans naturally want to be with more than one person physically but often times our natural instinct emotionally is still to attach ourselves to one person and therefore causes an unbalance within ourselves. I believe that even though open relationships are becoming more popular and more accepted, it is still taboo in our minds and I believe this film will be very relatable to many people who are in this situation themselves and hopefully will help them understand how to balance deep connections and genuine love, while still being sexually free.

Quinton and I find ourselves in this situation in our personal lives, which made this film truly come to life in a very real and raw way. I have shot for Sweet Sinner before and it’s always a masterpiece honestly, because of Jacky. Jacky is my favorite director in the industry. There’s something about her that is just warm and welcoming and yet inspiring and encouraging, especially as a female director. She’s been someone I’ve looked up to since I started in this industry a year ago and has been a huge supporter and lovely friend both on set and off. “

Tell us about your own journey to porn and how you ended up on that path.

“I started in this industry a year ago. I went to the GAYVN awards in 2020 with two of my dearest friends who are big performers on the gay side of the industry and I honestly was mesmerized and just fell in love with the vibe. I had watched my friends succeed in the industry for about three years so I was a little bit familiar with the adult industry and just everything in general but seeing everyone at the GAYVNs, realized that I one hundred percent could do this and succeed at it. I have a past that has put me through a lot and taught me even more and I knew that kind of experience would enable me to bring something raw and real and hopefully refreshing to this industry. Mark Spiegler scooped me up right away which I also knew was a sign because he is the best of the best when it comes to agents in the industry.”

How did you pick your porn name? What were some rejected porn names, if you had any?

“I came up with my porn name Aila Donovan because the two friends that inspired me to get into the industry, who are practically family, are a gay couple and their stage last name is Donovan so we thought it would be appropriate to keep the family name Donovan. Aila I came up with because I wanted some thing that was at the beginning of the alphabet, strictly for strategic marketing reasons and also was completely unique and I knew there would never be another. “

What’s your favorite scene that you’ve shot recently and why?

“Honestly, Toxic is one of my absolute favorite films that I have made so far. The cast was absolutely impeccably perfect, especially my beloved co-star Quinton. Jacky St. James is my favorite director and Mad Creativity is one of my favorite photographers in the industry. I love when Mike Quasar is behind the camera because he knows exactly what he’s doing and always gets the best shots. I always have a wonderful time on set with this Sweet Sinner crew and I know that they pull the best performances out of me effortlessly. “

What did you want to do as a career/calling earlier in your life?

“Honestly I never had a calling for a career when I was younger. I never really knew what I wanted to do. I just knew that I was a people-person with wonderful communication skills, and I was great with social media and visual arts such as photography and design. I knew I would end up doing something creative. “

What is your favorite adult film of all time and why?

“I don’t have a favorite adult film. “

What is the oddest and/or most extravagant gift you’ve ever received from a fan?

“Best gift I’ve received from a fan so far is a getaway to a spa resort with my best friend.“

What’s your favorite “treat yo self” kind of thing when you need a pick me up?

“My favorite pick me up treat for myself is a good massage, or some kind of relaxing spa day.“

What’s the strangest thing we’d find in your purse/ bag if you emptied it right now?

“My purse is like Mary Poppins’ bag, I have everything in there from makeup, to nail repair, to a sewing kit, to caffeine shots, to battery chargers, to a protein bar, to a mini vibrator lol.”

What’s your favorite meal?

“I was raised cooking Italian meals from scratch, so my favorite meal is a hearty homemade pasta dish.”

What are your hobbies and passions outside work?

“I love to be outdoors. My hobbies include hiking with my dog and traveling to new places with friends.”

What’s your favorite dinosaur and why?

“Favorite dinosaur would probably be the pterodactyl because I’m obsessed with flying.”

Since we’re all kind of wanderlust-y right now-- where your dream vacation? What does that look like? Where would you go and what activities would you be seeking?

“I’m a tropical vacation kind of girl! Anywhere with warm turquoise waters, fresh island fruit and happy music -- I’m happy. If jet-skis, and zip-lining are involved I'm in heaven!”

What qualities do you look for in a romantic partner?

“Qualities I would look for in a romantic partner would probably include a great sense of humor because life is too short not to be laughing always, good communication, empathy, good looks and sexual chemistry is key too.”

Who and what inspires your fashion choices? What are three wardrobe pieces (for work or not) that are essential for you?

“There honestly isn’t anyone in particular that inspires my fashion choices. I kind of just wear whatever I think it’s cute and trendy at the time. I tend to like unique cuts and don’t always fall into what’s most in style but what I do wear is timeless. During the winter you will find me in leggings, a crop top and in thigh high boots and during the summer you can almost always find me in a cute summer dress.”

In porn you have so much skin on display at all times and it has to look great on camera. What sorts of techniques and products do you use to keep your body skin looking flawless?

“Skin care is key for me, especially since it is on display in 4K constantly. I use exfoliating body wash gloves in the shower and a good tea tree shower gel and always a fresh razor blade. Lotion is key, especially when you keep a golden tan year round, such as myself.”

What sort of scenes are you looking to make more of in the future? What projects are on the table for you right now?

“I think orgy scenes are so much fun and I really hope to make more of those in the future. I also am finding that I have a large and dedicated following that love seeing me film with Black men, so I plan to be shooting more of that as well.”

Is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?

“Lastly, I just want to tell all of my fans to make sure you vote for TOXIC because I think it really should win some awards this year! I appreciate all of my fans and hope to continue to grow with all of you as I take over this industry! ;)”️
