Hardcore beauty London River is one of my absolute favorite performers to watch do scenes right now and I just checked out her truly excellent new Cherry Pimps scene with Robby Echo so it seemed like a great time to see how she was doing. Hello, London! How are you? How are things going?
"Pretty amazing, actually. And busy! Between studio scenes and and my own content as well as my assortment of silly hobbies, it’s pretty much nonstop lately."

So I wanted to check in with because it has just been a fucking joy to watch your career grow. I recently watched one of your earliest Kink scenes and I could see in it where you were headed. How do you feel looking at your scenes from 2015/2016?
"I looked so different! Haha. That said, I don’t think I’ve changed much as a BDSM performer. I’ve just added more to my resume. A lot more. It’s been really exciting working for most major studios."

What do you love most about your career right now?
"I have so much freedom right now. I pay my bills with my own content so I get to shoot a lot of my own little passion projects for my fans. I’m creating a lot of BDSM and fetish stuff on my own platforms and I’m doing it in a way that I’ve always felt it should be done. At least for me."

Your ability to disappear into your hardcore moments and just give seemingly all of yourself to them makes your scenes some of my favorite to watch. What drives you to commit to your work like that?
"I showed up in porn thinking that’s how I was supposed to do it. At least that’s what I want to see when I watch porn. If you can’t be uninhibited during sex, when can you be? Unfortunately, it doesn’t work for every scene. Over the last few years I’ve had to learn to tone my energy down a bit and not get lost for many of my scenes to be more palatable for certain vanilla studios and audiences. I can get so into it when I fuck that I stop caring about looking pretty. In fact I can get pretty ugly when I’m having a great time. Not everyone loves that. It’s why I get so excited when I work for studios like Evil Angel, Jules Jordan (my scenes with Manuel [Ferrara]), Analized, Kink, and Perv City. They are paying me to be myself. My latest Cherry Pimps scene is a great one for that too. The director said, 'You guys can do whatever you want,' so Robby and I just went for it. It was so hot."

What goals do you have for yourself in your work? Do you have them?
"I want to continue building up my own content. I want to continue making things that represent me and my sexuality."

How was the last year for you? I saw you on Adult Time's The Mike & Joanna Show and I know you did other stuff too in that insane feeling time. What did the pandemic teach you?
"The pandemic taught me that I have to work for myself as a priority. I have to make time for my passions and hobbies. I think a lot of Americans learned a similar lesson. It was scary, but also a time for me to get reacquainted with myself. I know now that have to hike, rock climb, hang out with my pets, and travel to stay happy. I have to work on my own creative projects. After those things are covered, I can take jobs working for other people. Before the pandemic I worried that if studios, producers, directors, or their particular audiences didn’t like me, I’d never work for them again (or even for the first time) and my career would suffer. That’s too much weight to put on the opinions of other people. It wasn’t healthy. I am always pleasant on set. I’m easy to direct and I give it my all every time I work. That’s all I can do. If I’m still not who someone wants to shoot again, I really can’t control that and it’s fine. I don’t take rejection home with me.

I know that many producers and directors are feeling that they have lost a lot of power, and they definitely have. Performers had to learn to survive without them because they disappeared as a source of revenue, promotion, and support. Now that we’ve conquered that sink-or-swim challenge, producer’s opinions hold a lot less weight for performers. If I work for someone it’s because I like them and they like me. Isn’t that how it should be? I’ve stayed busy and my scenes over the last year have for the most part been with and for people I enjoy being around. I think that’s a positive development."

What makes you happiest these days? What makes you smile?
"My cat, dogs, and human friendships are what gives me the most joy. Being outside more is huge for me."

What performers out there right now are you most impressed with these days?
"There are some who I’ve always found amazing. Joanna Angel is such a dynamic and interesting performer and individual and she’s so kind I cannot help but admire her. Natasha Nice is a spectacular performer who I just got to work with recently. I also just met and worked with Casca Akashova since the pandemic and she is spectacular."

What is coming up for you? What should your fans be on the lookout for?
"I have a BDSM website in development. That takes so much longer than expected (and longer than the people I paid to build it predicted), but I will make a formal announcement about it soon. Find my recent fetish work on clips.captiverose.com.

Also, keep your eyes peeled for my most recent scene for Evil Angel shot by Chris Streams and performing with Ramon Nomar and Michael Stefano. I don’t know the release date but it’s a jaw dropper. I’ve also got a new scene coming out for Pure Taboo sometime in the future that I love."
