Let's start with this little factoid: CamSoda has invented a gas mask to go with virtual reality goggles (and teledildonics, too, if that's your thing) for your favorite cam shows. If you're not already both awed and terrified, I fear we've already corrupted you past the point of no return.
It's called "Oh Roma" technology, and it aims to make your VR experiences a little more realistic than it already is. It's Realistic Virtual Reality porn, or something like that. The premise is that both you and the models you watch can customize the experience - performers will choose their own scent profile, which they can broadcast to viewers via an app that connects to the gas masks via Bluetooth.
Do you see the "Black Mirror" potential now? Choosing what goes on in people's gas masks for them?! Both a safety measure and a limiting factor, however, boils down to the fact that we do not yet know how to conjure smells from thin air, so you'll have to purchase cartridges for your canisters (not a sexual innuendo, I'm sorry) in smells your partial to. There are more than 30, and according to HuffPo, said smells will include perfume, ocean smells, and sex organs. (One of these things is not like the other, but I digress.)
I'm not totally sure what happens if you don't have a canister that matches a model's scent profile - you can mix the scent canisters, creating a unique blend - but I'm sure we'll soon see. HuffPo asked a smell scientist what, perhaps, a model should choose for her scent profile, and the most arousings scents are apparently:
- Lavender/pumpkin
- A combination of donuts and black licorice
(Thought I sometimes have: Are smell researchers secretly trolling us all?) Panties and sweat are also smells, and you can combine things like perfume and body odor to create something authentic. It will be interesting to see how this scent technology progresses and how detailed performers can make their preferred smells. (Another thought I have: Shouldn't we learn how to 3D print pizza first, before we do things like this? No?)
I will give my warning, though: I love the smell of sex as much as the next person, but there are things in porn you don't want to smell. The human body is amazing, but that doesn't mean it can't emit some very unpleasant things.
