Everyone Likes It Rough

AVN Hall of Famer Joanna Angel's latest all-sex series through her Burning Angel channel on Adult Time is "Girls Like It Rough" and it is a treat and a half for viewers who like passionate, limit pushing hardcore. Here's what Angel had to say about creating this.

Hello, Joanna! How are you doing? How are things?

"Things are good! They’re busy. So busy that I’m two weeks late in handing in this interview ;) and in my world busy means good."

Congrats on the release of "Girls Like It Rough" for Adult Time/Burning Angel! What inspired you to create it?

"Well, these days I actually direct a lot of different types of porn- some of which is actually very vanilla ( like when I direct for Fantasy Massage or Girlsway) and I find that the female performers who are continuously cast as the “innocent” ones, actually really love rough sex. This series was an outlet for these girls to get as filthy as their hearts desire!"

How are you casting this series? What type of performers have you chosen for this?
"I mean - the most important quality in casting for this series is that they like rough sex, and they don’t seem to have enough of it. ;)"

What do you love most about capturing rough sex in your movies?
"I enjoy watching the female performers have orgasm after orgasm after orgasm- and I enjoy watching their male co-stars do everything and anything they physically can to make said orgasms happen."

When you were interviewed by AVN about this series, you talked about one of my least favorite terms--"porn for women". Would you explain to Fleshbot readers why this is a term that you are not enamored with?

"Because there is no “porn for men”, therefore there shouldn’t be a porn for women. It just assumes that all women are the same when it comes to their sexuality and that’s just not true for any gender."

What about rough sex do you personally find empowering?

"To be honest, I find anything challenging and exhausting to be empowering in my life, whether I’m in the bedroom or at my desk or in the gym. Rough sex really pushes me both mentally and physically in a way that gets me off both mentally and physically. I can’t really explain it - I just feel like I experience the absolute height of all my senses when I have rough sex and it makes me reach different parts of myself I never knew existed."

Why do you think that certain performers get pigeonholed as being innocent when they are actually huge fans of rough, hardcore sex?

"I mean - I can’t dissect why society decides certain people and certain are attributed to certain stereotypes but it is just is what it is. If say Kenzie Reeves or Mackenzie Moss were actresses in Hollywood, they would also most likely get cast as innocent teens, and someone like me would get cast as a biker or a tattoo artist, or something. No one would exactly cast me for a sequel of Mean Girls, I’d be more quick to get a call back for Orange Is The New Black... as like... the girl who gets transferred from the maximum security prison, or something.

I can’t get into the psychology of why blond and skinny and young means innocent - but, it just does. Corrupting the innocent is an old porn cliche that just always works, and viewers have loved and will continue to love forever."

So how does it feel being married to AVN's Male Performer of the Year? How did it feel having your man get that honor?

"Our love for each other does not change with whatever accolades we get or don’t get. Our marriage and our relationship is exactly the same As it was before the award. But, I love him, and I’m proud of him and everyone would agree he very much deserved it."
