A Field Guide to Julie Christie

Julie Christie has been called many things over long and illustrious career, but we think Al Pacino said it best when he called her "the most poetic of all actresses." The all-time screen beauty celebrated her 79th birthday yesterday, but we're much more focused on seeing Julie in her birthday suit! Join us as we take a look back at all the hottest moments over the years!

Julie won her first—and to date, only—Academy Award for her bravura performance in the 1965 classic Darling. Shot in the much more liberal United Kingdom, the film caused quite a sensation in its day due to Julie's nude scene which was rare for an English language mainstream film of the era. The seductive Julie makes mincemeat of the men around her, played by such luminaries of the day as Dirk Bogarde and Laurence Harvey, and in the film's final minutes, she suffers a full-on mental breakdown, stripping off her clothes and showing us her ass—as well as a peek at her breasts thanks to a well-placed mirror!

While many viewed the Oscar as a reward for both this film and Doctor Zhivago, for which she wasn't nominated, but the performance is honestly strong enough to stand on its own merits. Grab one more quick flash of her breasts as she collapses on the bed...

After working with Robert Altman and then-romantic partner Warren Beatty on the revisionist western McCabe and Mrs. Miller in 1971, Julie jetted back across the pond for Nicolas Roeg's Don't Look Now, one of the most famous films of the era. One of the main reasons the film is still talked about is the legendary sex scene between Julie and her co-star Donald Sutherland, which has always been plagued with rumors of being unsimulated...

Sort of a Rosemary's Baby meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers, this one's got two brief nude scenes from Christie. The first comes just 25 minutes in when she sits up nude in bed and puts on a shirt, giving us a quick glimpse of her left breast...

Just four minutes later, we get to see Julie's boobs and buns for the last time as she strolls naked out of the shower, followed by a security camera...

While we're sad that Julie's nudity days are behind her—as they are for most actresses when they hit their 70s—we're grateful for all the baring she did in her prime!
