Hello, Gabrielle! What lead you to design the Shi/Shi Union?
"A few years ago, a girlfriend and I were discussing the lack of sex toys that existed for lesbians who might not want penetration (we do exist!). I wanted to address this issue by creating a sex toy exactly for those women and for women who might enjoy the act of scissoring. That position was a favorite of mine and sometimes I'd try to use a bullet or a vibrator between my girlfriend and I and it just didn't seem to work for both of us. We found that really only one of us could place the object directly on our clitoris and have stimulation. So I began to really think about what would be needed to achieve both partners experiencing the feeling at the same time and that's how my idea for a swiveling, two- sided sex toy was born!"

What has been the coolest thing about having a toy that you have designed created?
"That's a great question because it really is cool. To have this idea that I first presented to NS Novelties in the form of Playdoh (yes, really) come to life over time is just amazing. It looks strikingly like my Playdoh version and it functions as I wanted it to. It sort of feels like having a baby. I want to carry it around with me in a stroller and go, 'Look, she's mine!'"

Do you have other toys in the works or is this your masterwork?
"At the moment, I have one other design that I presented to NS Novelties so we shall see where that will go. I'd like to really partner with them or other companies to address toys for lesbians. There is a market for them and the reaction by the lesbian community to the SHI/SHI Union has been very supportive."

Is there anything you would like to say to Fleshbot's happy sex toy users/buyers?
"I want people to know that not all sex toys need to be penetrative. Women usually cum by clitoral stimulation so hopefully there can be a shift towards embracing more toys like mine. I just want to make lesbians cum and enhance their sex lives and if I can do that with my toy, then I'm a happy woman!"
