Only in Florida: Can’t Buy Me Love

EDITORIAL FEATURES

But You Can Overdraw Love

In my column Only in Florida, I'll be taking you down to the Sunshine State for the latest and greatest sex stories that can only be found in the craziest state in the union.

An old college buddy of mine often said; "When it comes to finding love, you're going to pay for it either way." What he meant by that was whether you were paying for dates at a nice restaurant or paying for dates in the back of an alley, it's all the same thing. Strangely enough, that old college buddy is still single. But, there is a grain of truth to those wise words and I, for one, would never judge anyone else's relationship. Should it be traditional true love, a long distance relationship, or even someone with a Sugar Daddy. Love is love is love... until the check bounces that is. For one Florida Woman, she thought she had found love, but it turns out her Sugar Daddy didn't have any sugar in the bank.

An unnamed 18-year-old met 41-year-old Paul Siek from Texas on a dating app called for those looking for Sugar Daddies. Even though Mr. Siek routinely sent her checks, usually more than asked. All Mr. Siek requested was she would send the overage back in the form on an iTunes gift card, which seems totally legit.

But the last check for $2,000.55 ($500 for her and the rest iTunes gift cards) didn't seem clear. This Florida Woman's bank account was frozen due to being $1600 bucks overdrawn. That's when she noticed something funny. The name on the check, Robert M Smith MD inc. The signature on the check, another name altogether. The only mention of "Paul Siek" was in the memo line.

While there was no mention of Mr. Siek's and this Florida Woman's relationship status, one would have to guess "It's complicated." So, let this be a lesson to all future Sugar Babies out there, make sure your Sugar Daddy sends cash, gift cards, or money orders.
