Late summer is a slow time for news stories, so what's a network to do to spice up its programming schedule? Why, run yet another half-baked, alarmist report on the scourge of internet pornography - like this one which ran on 20/20 last night, in which a "New York-based sex therapist" equates body hair fetish with bestiality, marriages crumble due to husbands who spend "12 to 15 hours a day" surfing for porn, and statements like "Internet pornography is the crack cocaine of sexual addiction" are tossed around with breathless aplomb. We know that porn addiction can be a serious problem, but such hysterical reporting isn't helping anything - besides ratings.
