“Nightmare of Ecstasy”

EDITORIAL FEATURES

edwood_nightmare.jpg

There are several good online resources on Ed Wood's life and career, but the best one remains one you'll have to do a bit of offline searching to find: Rudolph Grey's landmark biography "Nightmare of Ecstasy: The Life and Art of Edward D. Wood, Jr.", which is comprised of interviews with dozens of Wood's colleagues, contemporaries, and family members. (It also was the main source for Tim Burton's film version of the director's life.) Published in 1992 by Feral House, the book has been out of print for several years, but it shouldn't be hard to find via your favorite on- or offline used book emporium; considering it's the essential volume in any Woodaholic's library, it's well worth your trouble.

Order: "Nightmare of Ecstasy: The Life and Art of Edward D. Wood, Jr." (Amazon; used copies available from $6.98)
