Even though it largely consists of acid-trip-colored genital closeups (both male and female) and artsy penetration shots, the work of German photographer Manuel Laval goes far beyond the usual conventions of pornography: "Lights, colors, structures and rhythm are used for the creation of his surreal intense works ... It gives you the feeling that you're almost part of the creation process. It does not have the distance in usual erotica art we are used to."
