Best Porn DVDs of 2004

We put off choosing our favorite porn flicks of the year until the last possible moment partly because we were lazy, but mostly because we still had a stack of DVDs sitting by our television that we still had to watch (or at least fast forward though) to make sure we didn't miss anything—we try to be fair about these things, you know. Still, regular readers of Fleshbot will recognize several of our particular crushes, interests, and obsessions in the following list of the movies we found ourselves watching over and over again during the last twelve months (for research purposes, of course). After all, since when is any year-end roundup of this sort supposed to be objective?

"Art School Sluts"
Not everyone was as much of a fan of some of the artsier aspects of Eon McKai's pomo porno extravaganza as we were—but really, what do you expect from a porno with "Art School" right there in the title? It's an ambitious effort by a first time director that may not always hit the mark, but deserves a year-end honor for its vision, originality, and standout performances by stars Brooklyn, Keiko, and Felix Vicious.

"Bella Loves Jenna"
Jenna's star turn in "The Masseuse" may have received more accolades and AVN Award nominations, but we'd been looking forward to the fateful onscreen meeting of two of our favorite stars for so long that it was bound to make our list of favorites no matter how it turned out; fortunately, the hot sex and hallucinatory, eye-popping editing and cinematography did not disappoint.

"Crack Whores of the Tenderloin"
Seriously, how can you not love this movie based on the title alone? Maverick NYC-based director Joe Gallant directs a cast of mostly unknowns (though not actual crack whores, or so we've been told) in a bicoastal effort that manages to be as funny as it is filthy.

"Jim Powers' 'Dementia'"
Extreme hardcore meets extreme fetish in Jim Power's dark, stylized, and incredibly hot all-sex opus: the story might tell the tale of Aurora Snow's sexual awakening, but it's insatiable porn machine Katja Kassin's performance that made us wonder where she's been all our lives.

"Gina Lynn's DarkSide"
Your enjoyment of this two-disk set will of course largely depend on whether you're already a Gina Lynn fan or not; we are, and we think she puts in a bravura performance as the centerpiece (literally and figuratively) of one of director Jules Jordan's finest gonzo efforts to date.

"Groupie Love"
Included here more for its status as a cultural phenomenon than anything else (though there's plenty of hot sex too); the interactive "Groupie Love" was the apotheosis of the collusion of hip hop and porn that exploded in 2004.

"Loaded"
It was tough picking just one of Jesse Jane's star vehicles this year for this list, but "Loaded" made the cut thanks to its especially good production values and a plot that actually keeps you interested in a straight-to-video, USA Network sort of way. Not to mention all those really cool explosions.

"My Ass Is Haunted"
2004 will be remembered as the year that Belladonna turned into a MILF (ok, so she's still expecting, but let's not stretch a point—maybe eMILF would be a better term?); preggers or not, this all-girl release showcased her talents in one of her most enthusiastic performances to date.

"Stuntgirl"
With everyone from AVN to Hardcore Gossip to Andrew Blake salivating over Jack the Ripper's wall-to-wall hardcore fever dream, "Stuntgirl" had a lot of hype to live up to when it finally reached Fleshbot Central earlier this week. And guess what? It was worth the wait. Maybe the pros know what they're talking about after all.

"Tera, Tera, Tera"
OK, so we might have teased Tera a bit about some of her plastic surgery choices—but we tease because we love. She's still one of the most stunning women in porn, and director Chi Chi LaRue brings out her best in her first hardcore appearance in two years—not to mention Tera's first girl-girl scene (with the babealicious Savanna Samson, no less) ever.
