What do you do when you're an unemployed art school graduate with a background in philosophy, law and psychology, an interest in the anti-censorship movement, and an awareness of the creative and transgressive possibilities of porn as an artistic medium? Why, round up a few friends (including the son of designer Vivienne Westwood and Fleshbot fave Hannah Harper) and start making your own dirty movies, of course. Anna Span has received a lot of mainstream attention in the UK over the past five years for productions which manage to retain a feminist sensibility while still appealing to hardcore smut fans of every ideological stripe: "She believes that to sexually objectify, that is to fleetingly view a person's sexual attractiveness separately from their personality/person, is a natural human experience NOT just a male one, as traditionally depicted." We couldn't have said it better ourselves.
