Uli of Berlin

In George Orwell's "1984" (it's a book, not a Catalina release) the famous answer to the question "What does the future look like?" is "A boot stamping on a human face. Forever." After all these years, why have we remembered that quote? Probably because of images created by artists like Uli of Berlin, who picks up where Tom of Finland leaves off. His art is replete with graphic scenes of dominance and submission, boot stomping, boot licking and much more—and we should warn that anyone offended by Nazi imagery should look elsewhere. Uli's color drawings are more detailed than his pen and ink ones, but they may also be more recent examples of his work. In either case, the future looks very good to us.-RM
