For just one night, Porn Valley admitted that It's About the Women. Editor Carly Milne and several writers staged a reading of the new anthology "Naked Ambition" in the heart of the patriarchy, Hustler Hollywood. Mind the gap.- G. Ponante

Holly Randall, Jodi Marie, The Original Violet Blue, Theresa Flynt, and Joanna Angel read deep cuts from the book, which deals with the experiences in the porn industry of 23 women. "I didn't want to gve the whole thing away, so I didn't read the parts about five-ways and pissing," explained Marie, who is the art director of PurePlay Media.
A crowd of about 250 came for the reading at the west end of the Sunset Strip, including Tristan Taormino, Tom Sizemore, Eon McKai, Nina Hartley, and BoingBoing's Xeni Jardin.
Milne is putting together a book about her own experiences in the porn industry and after that, she said, she's finished with porn writing. "I also got teen magazines and Internet startups out of my system," she said.
Aside from posts on BurningAngel.com, Joanna Angel's entry in Naked Ambition is her first published work (as Joanna Angel, anyway). She pondered, or didn't, the myriad sadnesses and pleasures of a literary life. Randall, whose mother, Suze, was home recovering from an equestrian snafu, downplayed her own naked literary ambitions, saying, "I take excellent pictures."
