Some of the most compelling movies I've seen recently are by Japanese horror master Takashi Miike (like the classic "Audition" or the ultra-violent "Ichi the Killer"). Miike makes the kind of films that get under your skin like a rusty razor blade, and his work comes to mind when perusing the narrative photosets by Seiryu Izumi at Immoral Drug. Laden with claustrophobic camera angles and images of autoerotic asphyxiation, gushing blood, and rough sex with rubber chickens and creepy animal masks (as well as the relatively more mundane upskirt fetish and simulated bukkake shots), the several dozen photo vignettes aren't for the faint of heart, but there's a stillness and pacing through each storyboard that manages to be both captivating and intensely disturbing at the same time. Now, whether you're turned on by moody Japanese ingenues in distress, of course, is another story.A. Tolesco
