Sweatnapper: Modern Nude Ambrotypes

Don't let the old timey look of these photographs fool you: these ambrotypes and daguerreotypes may look very old, but they're actually modern-day versions of some of the earliest forms of photography. Only, you know ... with boobies. There's actually a little more to it than that, but photographer Eric Mertens taught himself the long-lost practice of wet-plate developing and is using it to create some rather interesting portraits. It's a complicated process that requires some exacting effort, but we think the results are remarkable. If only those early photo pioneers had access to more pierced and tattooed ladies, the whole history of the medium might have turned out a lot different ...
