If you like your fetish photography bright, glossy, and colorful ... well, New York-based photographer Joshua Rubin has some other ideas in mind: he describes his work as "an exploration of sexuality and kink as memory of such events experienced or created and manufactured by the process of memory. Memory of actual experience, other's experience, desired experience and experience yet to come." But don't let the highfalutin prose put you off—his grainy studies of rope- and clothespin-bound subs and smiling dommes are some of the most singular and intimate depictiions of the fetish lifestyle we've come across in a while, and his brand spanking new blog (in pre-launch status this week) promises to give us civilians some insight into his creative process. (Apparently, vodka and cookies have just as much to do with at as all those whips and collars.)
