Any DVD that arrives in our mailbox here at Fleshbot Central with a press release describing it as"part police story and part "Story of 'O'" and having "the distinct flavor of an adult film from the 1970s, but with an updated 'Boogie Nights' twist'" is going to at least make it into our viewing queue for a quick look instead of being tossed into our ever-expanding landfill pile if for no other reason to see how all those mixed metaphors are justified. Unless, of course, said DVD stars the always delectable Lanny Barby, in which case we don't care how it's described or how many stylistic influences go into its production; we'd watch Lanny sit there for two hours filing her nails or watching paint dry on the walls of her rumpus room if we had to. Fortunately, it looks like director B. Skow finds plenty of other uses for our favorite Quebecois Penthouse Pet than just setting around in "Burnt Fury", which involves Barby in an archetypal role as "an ingénue who heads to Hollywood to find fame and fortune despite her mother's strong objections." Because really—who watches a porn romp just for the stylistic influences anyway?
