Calling French artist Jean-Claude Claeys a mere illustrator is like calling Rembrandt a painter or Shake Shack a New York City burger stand: it may be descriptive, but it doesn't convey the sublime heights of expression his work achieves. Working from a variety of sources including original photographs and found images, Claeys' work is meticulously detailed, supremely atmospheric, and frequently very, very sexy. Don't be put off by all that French text you'll encounter when poking around the opening page of his sprawling online portfolio; clicking on pretty much any thumbnail image will lead you to detailed views of his noirish erotic landscapes and other photo and art galleries, though if you want to read what he has to say about his work we suppose you can do that too. As for us, we're content to let his pictures do the talking. (Besides, who has time to translate anything when there's so much sexy eye candy to explore?)
