“Once In A Blue Moon”: Because If It Happened More Often, We Couldn’t Contain Ourselves

Can we just say that we are totally stoked about Afton Nills' latest twinkstravaganza, "Once in a Blue Moon" (especially now that we know how to spell the studio's name properly?) It hasn't even come out yet, and we've already planned the menu for our first viewing party! It'll be just like those days of "Models, Inc.", with chips and dips and an assortment of petit fours from that cute new bakery down the street. And Ravinder is going to make his mom's ferocious chipotle fajitas! And ... oh, right: the movie.

Based on a quick scan of the cover and repeated viewings of the high-larious trailer, it appears that Nills has crafted a not-too-subtle homage to "Queer As Folk" but with marginally better acting. It's like Cheech and Chong remaking "Showgirls", people! We can't think of a better excuse to unplug the phones and drive our mobile home to an undisclosed location for the weekend so no one disturbs our viewing pleasure.

That said, we're still not entirely sure what the damn thing is about. Seriously: that's some long-ass promo copy, and who has time to read these days? As far as we can tell, it's about a handful of twinks, two sibilant older queens, and that one lesbian on the cover. And it all takes place at a hotel, which is called--are you ready for this?--the Blue Moon Resort. Clever, right?

All you really need to know, though, is in the subtitle, which reads "Season One, Episode 1". Apparently, there's loads more to come. (FYI: We could've gone with "cum" there, but we're gonna rise above it.) In the meantime ... would one of y'all pass the Rotel?
