Surely someone had to have come up with this name before. But its current owner, featured in a movie called "Aussie Fuckfest: Gold Coast," was the subject of one of those vaguely sorrowful "Look at what's become of us!" stories in an Australian publication last year during the movie's filming. We take a look at the disconnect between porn and its coverage after the gap.
In an article titled "Naked Ambition" published a year ago in Australia's The Age, the woman calling herself Jenna Taylia, who in the movie appears fun-loving and devil-may-care, comes off as self-aware, sadder but wiser. (As you know, any first article about porn or stripping is required by law to be called "Naked Ambition.")
Here Taylia talks about her parents:
"They're pretty conservative," Jenna coughs, with a waft of cigarette smoke and a roll of her eyes. "They have very old-fashioned values, which is good for some people, but I have definitely rebelled against it. I was born to do porn."
She offers the last line, after a second or two of silence, with an affected Californian twang that marks her as someone self-aware enough to know that, really, she was not born to do this at all.
In the movie, Taylia cavorts around the country with Xena Star and, though Star looks the pornier of the two, it is Taylia who appears more randy.
The women learn that there is to be a party at which men will be present, and each reveals her particular methodology.
"What do you want to do with these boys?" they are asked.
Jenna: "Slap them around and send them home."
Xena: "Get kinky with them."
Jenna: "Make them feel this big," then "Guys cannot be nice and fuck well."
"I have never thought of porn as a bad thing," Jenna says.
For today, at least, it's an escape from her daily working life as a disability caregiver.
"I wipe people's arses and get paid shit money — so now I do porn on the side." Her hands motion with a manic energy before settling to cradle her head. "I want to just do this one movie and see where things go from there. I don't want to be famous for this, because then people would never care about anything else I might be able to do. But at the same time, I am not doing a whole lot of other stuff at the moment."
The movie itself is notable for its innocent, travelogue nature (though the appearance of a pattern bald dude with a ponytail adds the needed element of creepiness), but the article is rife with sadness.
