Slate addresses the curious question of why beach volleyball players are always slapping each other on the ass and concludes that it has something to do with every sport having "its own superstitious tics, preening behavior, and weird bits of incidental ceremony". And here we were thinking that it was simply because a lot of beach volleyball players have really nice asses, which just goes to show how little we really know about beach volleyball.
