In the Wake of the Net Neutrality Repeal, You Can Prepare Thyself With the FCC Porn Scrambler

The FCC officially voted to retract Net Neutrality yesterday, and most of us are (obviously) wondering how this will impact the ability to watch and upload porn. Will ISPs make it impossible to load Pornhub? Will I have to pay extra to sign into my Erika Lust account?! These are the things that keep me up at night. 

I'm not alone, either - a Chrome plug-in was even created to simulate what having your porn scrambled by pesky ISPs would like. It's called The FCC Internet Porn Scrambler, and it's pretty terrifying to look at. (Yes, I installed it. #journalisticintegrity.) The good news: I have been on Pornhub several times today, and everything appears to be OK still.

Most Americans were not in favor of repealing Net Neutrality, but the imminent effect on porn is hard to know. Some experts believe it could funnel money back into big porn production companies and re-inflate performer payments, while others feel that smaller sites and amateur content will be increasingly harder to access, making for a big step backward in terms of porn variety and performer autonomy. Only time will tell, since it largely depends on how and why companies decide to slow down certain Web traffic. 

My hope is that our biggest fears don't come true, and that ISPs take this opportunity to innovate and make internet access cheaper and better like FCC Chairman Ajit Pai says it will. Otherwise, we're in for a bumpy, pornless ride...
