In another installment of My Eyes Are Rolling Into the Back of My Head, I have some disparaging semi-news for the porn-watching public: Porn - that is, tube site porn - depicts an even more depressing orgasm gap than real world sex, if that were possible.
These researchers are from the Department of Sexology at the Université du Québec à Montréal, and they examined the 50 most viewed videos on PornHub for their analysis. That is arguably not a large sample size, and again, we're talking tube-site-only porn right now, which is a far cry from many membership and independent production sites, but their findings are still depressing AF.
They looked for signs of orgasm in both men and women (including heavy breathing and moaning) and found that only 13 percent of women in the aforementioned PornHub videos orgasmed.
Which isn't to say that only 13 percent of women orgasmed during the shooting of the scenes - it is technically possible that some female orgasms were cut for brevity. But as we all know, it's all kinds of problematic that porn is cut in favor of male pleasure.
The youths (and young adults... and old adults...) are imprinted with an idea of the sexual status quo from porn, and only tube site porn is free. It's a vicious cycle of this-is-what-men-want-to-see-but-that's-only-because-it's-what-they're-used-to, and I really just can't.
I think I'm going to need to whip out my vibrator when I get home to self-soothe from this travesty.
