Porn Star Choices
Bailey Rayne calls becoming a porn star "the best decision" she had ever made for herself in the episode's pre-credit tease, where we see her posing for stills. There has been a bit of controversy with this episode because the producers of it decided not to edit some cam girls/porn performers' real names and personal contact information out of the original cut of the episode. Rayne's own condo number is still in the episode upon my viewing of it, and even though the Free Speech Coalition has contacted the producer of this and Netflix to take the episode down over these privacy concerns, you can still see the episode on the Netflix website. Rayne expressed to AVN that she is not totally happy with what's here but truly, she gave these people way too much access to things she obviously should not have.
Rayne works as an assistant to an agent, a cam girl, and a performer. In meetings at New Sensations and Combat Zone/Filly Films, we see company reps' disappointment that newbie Bonnie Kinz only does girl/girl, and in an interview, Kinz shares her story of coming from a lower income background and wanting to use the porn money to give her siblings things they want while they are still young. She didn't care for the grabby male customers she experienced at whatever crappy strip club she worked at but says she is digging porn more. She did not seem to dig her time in front of AVN Hall of Famer Jim Powers' camera in Filly Films' "Lesbian Group Fuck Fest." She complains about being in "uncomfortable positions" afterwards between bong rips with her fellow starlets on couches back at the model house. (Uh, it's a job. That's why people get paid for it.) Kinz gets shown making the choice to get high on molly instead of buying the computer to get her cam career going and Kinz also has an agent-unapproved sugar daddy. Cam girl Salena Storm complains about being objectified in an interview while she is shown having photos taken of her by director Jay Rock and Rayne is shown drinking peach-flavored vodka while on cam when she isn't in the mood to be there.
Rayne and the agent talk about Kinz being out of control and using drugs and Kinz moves on to change her name to Kylie Page and start doing boy/girl scenes. Page talks about having had her pussy "ripped" during that first boy/girl scene and that she is working through the pain. Rayne gets summoned by the agent to assist with a sick Page who was up all night drinking while having a kidney infection.
Ultimately, all of the young women here are making choices on their own that are their own to make. If getting high is the only thing making the job palatable, truly there is another career choice out there that won't cause you to want to do the same. I'm truly saddened that such unhappy women were chosen to represent a whole industry via this episode.
