This Is The Oddest Disappearing Scarf Trick Ever

In my column Only in Florida, I'll be taking you down to the Sunshine State for the latest and greatest sex stories that can only be found in the craziest state in the union. 

The art of magic has been woven into our society, whether you believe in it or not, seeing a talented magician can be an amazing experience. Sure, we all know Harry Houdini never disappeared and David Blaine really can’t float, but there are some magic tricks that make us say; “How did you do that?!” But there is one particular street magician that didn’t have the best sleight of hand. Florida street magician Richard Cook was arrested for performing a trick and by trick I mean he tried to pull down a woman’s bikini bottom. 

Apparently the trick was supposed to be one of those disappearing scarf tricks and asked for a volunteer, a woman in a bikini stepped forward. 

That is when, officials say, he told the victim to keep both hands out in front of her, as he reached down and pulled her bikini bottoms out from her side.  The woman was able to grab her bottoms to not expose herself and told Cook she did not feel comfortable doing the trick. According to the arrest report, Cook responded “you will feel comfortable” and immediately did it again.  

I have to ask, what would have come next in Mr. Cook’s trick?  

One magic trick Mr. Cook did pull off was getting people to believe he was a magician. According to Dallas Saupe (that’s a street performer’s name if I’ve ever heard one), the street performer coordinator told authorities Mr. Cook wasn’t an approved performer.  

"He wasn’t vetted at all. It would be like stopping this guy right here and saying hey, let me show you a trick to these people that just walked by and something happening, you know. So they’re all vetted. The city requires us to do back ground checks on all the participants, not just the performers, all the vendors. Everybody that works out here for the festival,” he said. “We can be as vigilant as we can. I will step up probably my walking around my perimeter and I already do it several times a night.”  

So, the next time so guy in a funny hat and a brightly colored vest asks you for help, just keep walking. Also, I have no idea if Mr. Cook had on a funny hat and brightly colored vest, but that’s the normal magician attire.
