A Guide to AVN’s Best Parody Nominees

I remember an interview with now-retired porn performer/director Bobbi Starr, where she expressed her disdain for parody porn—she had zero interest in all the wigs and the costumes and the dialogue that tied her scenes together while she faked being Velma in Scooby-Doo. That said, those parodies paid the lady's bills for years. Parody porn is a genre that seems to be here to stay. There are less of them than in previous years, but they are fun to watch when they are made with care and love. A dear friend of mine who is a fellow adult critic has an awesome collection of every parody that has crossed his desk, and I envy the heck out him for thinking to do so. Take a look at these nominees for Best Parody, and think about adding some of these to your porn-viewing life.

"American Whore Story" from Brazzers

Holy crap, this is a great parody and I really thought that the Hustler "American Horror Story" parody was good. This is up for the Best Director-Parody (Brett Brando) and Best Screenplay-Parody, and there is a super hot scene in here with Bonnie Rotten and Danny D that is up for Best Anal Sex Scene. I am a complete fan of the TV show, so really, I am good with this taking it all. Rotten is on a performing hiatus at the present—congrats on your healthy baby girl!—but you know her anal skills are super fine.

"Batman v Superman XXX: An Axel Braun Parody" from Wicked Comix

I wrote a review of this fabulous release, which is up for an assload of AVN Awards. XBIZ gave it Parody of the Year and Best Director-Parody to Axel Braun. Kleio Valentien (Harley Quinn) and Giovanni Francesco (Batman) are up for acting awards in this, and the sex is super fine. I loved this parody and I would be totally OK with it taking everything it is nominated for. The nominated scene between Carter Cruise (Supergirl) and Derrick Pierce (Lex Luthor) is totally fucking hot. I think this is going to be way better than the Ben Affleck bullshit that is coming out this year and that is fucking sad but yeah, enjoy this.

"Between the Headlines: A Lesbian Porn Parody" from Filly Films

Here's Humbert's review of this labor of love by performer/director Lily Cade. Cade plays Rachel Maddow, Nina Hartley plays Hillary Clinton and Lotus Lain makes a damn fine Michelle Obama in this parody that is also up for Best Screenplay-Parody.

"Bob's Boners and Other Porn Parodies" from Wood Rocket

Anthony Rosano is truly excellent in his portrayal of the Bob Belcher, the dad in the "Bob's Burgers" animated series. He is up for Best Supporting Actor for his work in this and the whole production is up for Best Screenplay and Best Parody. Rosano did an excellent job in the "South Park" parody too, and he really gives it all to every bit of acting that gets put in front of him. Hopefully, this is his year to take home a statue.

"Gnardians of the Galaxy and Other Porn Parodies" from Wood Rocket

Sorry, Wood Rocket, but "Bob's Boners" has my heart over you. I know that Lee Roy Myers is up for Best Director-Parody for this one but yeah . . . no. This was not the Wood Rocket parody for me this year.

"Joanna Angel's Making the Band" from Burning Angel

I wrote a review for this one too, and it is up for Best Screenplay-Parody and Best Director-Parody thanks to Joanna Angel. The movie ends with an orgy scene that is up for Best Group Sex Scene, which I enjoyed a lot. This parody of the MTV series starring Sean Puffy P. Diddy Kumquat Combs is fun stuff, but I don't think that the source material is strong enough to take the award for Best Parody. That group scene, though? It's got a beat and I can fap to it.

"Kill Bill: A XXX Parody" from Digital Playground

This is a fun parody of the Quentin Tarantino release directed by Jakodema, but of the two Digital Playground movies, I have to go with the other one.

"Magic Mike XXXL: A Hardcore Parody" from Wicked Pictures

Director Brad Armstrong got angry at me when I pointed out a sound editing issue in what was an otherwise excellent review of one of his movies, so I don't write about Armstrong's work because I don't think he appreciated it when I did. The cover says this one is "for the ladies" so feel free to check this out if you are one of those. Misty Stone and Ryan McLane are up for acting awards for their work in this.

"Night at the Erotic Museum" from Smash Pictures

James Deen is front and center as the Ben Stiller in this parody of the family-friendly series. I suppose that your enjoyment of this title really hinges on your feelings about Deen these days, and some of you have made it pretty clear to me that you don't want to see him. I would pass on this if Deen's presence is an emotional trigger for you. However, you do get Ron Jeremy in a fun non-sex appearance as the museum's curator.

"Peter Pan XXX: An Axel Braun Parody" from Wicked Fairy Tales

OMG, I love this Braun parody so damn much. It is beautiful, smart, funny, and I think that Eyan Ryder was born to play the role of Peter Pan. Here's my review of this title. It has AVN nominations in pretty much every category it could be nominated in, so I am definitely not alone in my love for this movie. If you only buy one off of this list, make this the one. Who doesn't want to fuck and fly and escape reality? You will love this.

"Screwing Wall Street: The ArrangementFinders IPO" from Manuel Ferrara/Evil Angel

Former Wall Street trader Veronica Vain does a super hot girl/girl scene with Kayden Kross in this feature with an excellent acting performance by Stoya. I liked this one but it didn't pull me in like some of director Manuel Ferrara's other work.

"Sisters of Anarchy" from Digital Playground

Rotten directs and stars in this hot-as-fuck parody with hot biker chicks in a gang getting laid like they want. The screenplay written by D Cypher is a fucking winner. I love this parody so damned much. Tough chicks always get my erotic devotion.

"This Ain't Modern Family XXX" from Hustler Video

Here's my review of this parody that really captures the spirit of the ABC family comedy series well. Director Andre Madness totally deserves kudos for his work here.

"This Ain't Supernatural XXX" from Hustler Video

'Director Will Ryder always delivers quality parodies, and if you love the original show, you will definitely get behind this. I am just not a Supernatural fan so this fell flat with me.
