The Weekly Mindfuck: Don’t Ditch the Dildo

EDITORIAL FEATURES

What's Taking Her So Long in the Bathroom?

In the world of women's toys, there's nothing that garners more attention than the vibrator. As the design increasingly moves away from silicone replicas of genitalia and more research is done on the female orgasm, it's clear: Those who cannot get off from penetration get off incredibly well with a little extra "oomph" in the clitoral region. I'm certainly not disputing that—I didn't even have my first orgasm until I bought a vibrator. You could, in a way, think of it as the gateway drug of orgasms (which are way, way better than actual drugs, IMO.)

As we move away from the penis mold, though, there's one toy that's not getting quite as much love in the self love department: the dildo.

Let me explain: Generally, when a woman can't get off, it's not because she's less capable of getting her rocks off than anyone else, and it's not because her partner doesn't know how to do it to it. It just means she doesn't yet know what specifically works for her body—how to maneuver when she's in control and what to ask for when she's not. That's the beauty of masturbation as a woman; it teaches you what you like. Vibrators are good for helping a lady get off in the clitoral region and they can usually teach her how to get the same effect manually—but what about the G-spot?

G Marks the Spot

That's where dildos (and their inherently penis-shaped design) come in handy. Vibrating toys are perfect for getting something that the typical human body can't do, but toys that function similarly can help with the real deal. The premise of this is simple: The more a woman has a little solo fun with the dildo, the better she knows what spots she needs to hit and how to best achieve them.

Bonus points go to suction-bottomed dildos, because they stick to shower walls and mirrors. That's convenient AF. It's easiest to use them in the shower, since the water acts as a natural lube, but if it'll stick, it'll work.

(There are also perks to being on the other side of the shower wall. I'm just saying.)

This translates right into the bedroom, obviously, and can make sex significantly better for a woman with enough practice. And don't worry, gentleman—not all dildos are 12 inches long. How does the saying go? It's the motion of the ocean?

And hey—dildos make great stocking stuffers. Anyone had any luck with a Bathroom Buddy?
