“Love” Is Not A Porno

TV/MOVIES

null

There’s that old joke; “You know the difference between art and porn? A government grant!” Well, when it comes to movies the joke is; “You know the difference between a mainstream movie and porn? Subtitles!” Even though these posters for the movie Love, which is premiering at Cannes, may make it seem like a porn, it’s not. Then again, maybe it is. Or maybe it’s a little of both.

The film is directed by French director and screenwriter Gaspar Noé, who doesn’t really ever shy away from sex and nudity in his films. You may not know Noé by name, but odds are you know some of his work. Noé is the man behind the 2002 film Irréversible, which includes a nude scene featuring the always beautiful Monica Bellucci. More recently Noé wrote and directed Enter The Void which featured a couple of really awesome nude scenes with Janice Béliveau-Sicotte, Sara Stockbridge, and Paz de la Huerta. According to IMDb, Love is the story of a man, a woman, and another woman and it also “celebrates sex in a joyous way.” I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that I bet the movie has one or two pretty great nude scenes.

I highly doubt Love will make it into a lot of theatres, but it might make it to your local art house theatre. If not, I guess you’ll just have to wait for it to come out on DVD.
