Golf has enough problems, what with it being by far the most boring sport—though George Carlin would also add that it's not a sport—so the last thing they needed was some controversy. Nevertheless, that's exactly what they've got on their hands now thanks to Golf Digest's latest cover featuring a *gasp* semi-topless picture of Lexi Thompson.
While this is fairly innocuous, run of the mill stuff for the average porn fanatic, according to The Blaze (link below), the entire golf world is up in arms about the magazine's decision to feature this particular photo of Thompson on its cover.
Though Thomspon, who at 12 years old became the youngest person to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open, supports her cover shoot as “represent[ing] fitness & power,” others think it sends the wrong message for a reputable sports magazine.
Wow, @GolfDigest … I must’ve missed the issues where Tiger & Jack appeared on the cover like this … #SMHpic.twitter.com/9GyRrMT43e

@GolfDigest very poor choice to portray women in this manner. Shame on @Lexi as well. Quit tarnishing the game.

For her part, Thompson thinks the picture is, well, exactly what it is, a representation of fitness & power...
I'm with you on this one Lexi, but let's not forget that golf is a game designed to keep men away from their wives for four to five hours on a Saturday. The last thing they need is a reminder of other, better things things they could be doing with their time.
