We Sing the Praises of “The Voice Australia”, Which Added Pole Dancers

CELEBRITY

How do you spice up old programming? Well, it's easy. Just add sex. It's like salt, a flavor enhancer, but unlike that seasoning sex is good for you. It's also controversial, which isn't bad for a struggling reality show like "The Voice Australia." It's getting us to write about it.

The sex? Pole dancers. The outrage? Well, let's let the local boys at the Sydney Morning Herald (link below) field that one.

Frank Lakoudis' powerhouse vocals dominate every time he steps onto the The Voice stage.

But during Monday night's episode of the reality singing contest, some viewers were more concerned with his back-up dancers than Lakoudis' rock credentials.

The 22-year-old rocker performed Lenny Kravitz's American Woman, descending onto the stage from a metal platform.

There he was joined buy a trio of pole dancers who performed in red, white and blue leotards.

But not all viewers were impressed with the theatrics.

"Hmm I'm watching the voice with my 7-year-old," Nico Harry tweeted. "Were the pole dancers really necessary?"

One viewer wondered if The Voice had taken cues from a "porn show".

Yes, and the show should take more cues from porn, like double penetration and pop shots and oral sex and, well, the list is endless, and hopefully so is the cynical ambitions of the show's producers.
