According to a study by Internet security firm Symantec, your computer is more likely to contract a virus if you visit a religious website than if you visit a porn website.
Mashable (link below) shared the findings, and they are stunning...
...websites featuring religious or ideological themes are three times more likely to host infectious malware compared to sites with adult or pornographic content.
Three times as likely! Three times!
"We hypothesize that this is because pornographic website owners already make money from the Internet and, as a result, have a vested interest in keeping their sites malware-free; it's not good for repeat business," the report reads.
As for the rest of the web...
Websites categorized as "blogs/web communications" are the most likely to contain malicious code: a full one in five websites in that category were identified by Symantec as "infected." They're followed by "hosting/personal hosted" sites (15.6%) and "business/economy" (10%). Approximately 2.4% of pornographic sites contain malware.
So take heart, intrepid porn lovers. Those folks that mainly use their computers for forwarding e-mails about how Obama is the Antichrist and guns and Jesus... They've got filthy, disease riddled computers that they're using to send those e-mails. Don't open them. You're safer right where you are, watching porn.
